the early release date secures more early preorders. nothing more than that.

Firaxis themselves have said mid November and I've never heard of a game being released before the projected date, so...

When you're desperate for CIV news, you'll do almost anything, up to but not neccessarily camping out in front of Firaxis' building to keep track of how many hours Soren works per day.

nah, they come here to see what I think should be in the game and then they go do it, then they come back here to see what else I want to be in CIV. Because my opinion is the most important to them, obviously.

I'm sure that number is well above 40. It's crunch time and from what I understand about the industry is that you can expect 50-60 hour weeks and 70-80 hours aren't out of the question either.

September 30 is ridicilous by any means. That's only a month away. That means that the game has to go gold, that is, be finished, two weeks from now. Given that there's basically no official civ4 site, no massive advertising campaign yet, and no word whatsoever about civ4 being close to finishing, I find the notion that it can be done within two weeks ridicilous.
Besides, all those September, October and November dates provided by retailers are being pulled out of their rearsides. The official Civ4 site by Firaxis says "winter 2005", and that is the ONLY official word there has been on the release.

In every recent(ish) interview Firaxis has done, they've said November.

Looks increasingly likely that Amazon are simply lying. I will send a very nasty email to them in the case of a November release, a full month after that which is quoted.

They don't care. Save yourself the effort.
