Having said what I had to say in the MGL thread, I thought I would share some ideas on where we would want to place a forbidden palace (f/p). Since the f/p will not reduce distance-based corruption, there is technically no need to place it far from the capital. The only thing you gain by doing that, is that cities that may be somewhat productive and are near the f/p may (but not necessarily will) get lower corruption due to a lower number on the city order (at the expense of cities near the capital, though)
Ideally, you want the f/p to be in your second-most productive (or, rather potentially-productive) city. The cities we currently have that come to mind are: Bloodview, Bloodfort, Bloodhue, Furnace and Filious Ala.
For the following, keep in mind that the entire 21 square area is available since the f/p provides culture to the city in which it is built.
Bloodview: best one since it has so many resources near it. Gold will help economy, Wheat will help it grow, horses help the economy, and oasis helps it to grow. We MUST, however, stop population rushes in this city. They have given their all, we must leave them alone if we plan to put a f/p in here (whether by MGL or by building the bugger)
Bloodfort: a decent choice since the city can share the floodplains with FA and thus use the forests (and/or mts/hills) for greater productivity.
Bloodhue: on paper an very nice choice as it has: tobacco (for cash), two shielded grass tiles, wheat on plains, and a hill and forests for extra production. The major problem with this city is its location; it will take a while for troops to get to the front from this city.
Furnace: another great one on paper. It has the floodplain wheat (most possible food in the game), two shield-grass tiles, a mountain (for production), and forest with game! Problems, however, are many. 1. It is too close to the front. 2. Two volcanoes are near it and have already spoiled the wheat and one shield-grass tile (both of which would have to be cleaned)
Filious Ala: This would probably score as my second choice (from the above list). Although we are using it as a settler/worker factory, we can improve the hills near it (for production) and it has irrigated floodplains (very high food) and an oasis within its borders. It is kind of close to the AM's, but that can easily be dealt with. It also happens to be well-protected (due to it's hill center square) and is close to all fronts. The major stumbling block would be that we would need a new worker factory--I am assuming here that by the time we build the f/p we won't have much use for more settlers.
