Funny the team is practicing at a hi school 5 miles from my moms house. And at least 13 miles from the alamodome. with all the richer hi schools in the city the team goes to one of the poorest to use the field. By the way the players are talking they are prolly gonna stay in NO which is very admirable. I do however think it is unfair for the nfl to decide that the team plays all of its games this season on the road. Most of these players have more to do then travel for 4 months to play the games. LSU has started to back track but they have not completly given the go ahead, it seems its now about being paid so as this louisianna team can play in Baton Rouge

I've heard the NFL doesn't want the Saints to play games in the Alamodome because they don't think they'll be able to sell out games.

While I dont disagree with the NFL and am not rooting for the team to play here I still think it is unfir for this particular team to play road games the whole season. Tho I think S.A might be able to sell a good number of seats a sell out might not be in the cards. But as far as i know they saints never sold out the superdome either. If the NFL is only thinking facts and figures then most of the folks are not on the same page as the team members that have other business like setting up a temp home for their families while still doing their jobs as players

Well, they certainly won't be coming back to New Orleans, at least not to the Superdome. New Orleans officials have now said that they're going to have to tear it down.

From the website of the Saints (back in 11/21/04):

quote:
The Saints had their 36th consecutive sellout crowd in the Superdome

(that's 4 and a half seasons)

And I don't think they are going to make the Saints go on the road all year, just find another site outside of the Alamodome.

According to news reports the alamodome is not ready neither is lsu and houston is not prepared as well. The alamodome can be made ready but it will take a few weeks I do hope that another site is found. The team already feels guilty playing here because of bensons ties here. Most feel as if they are letting the city of NO down. These accounts come from the team visits with folks at kelly afb and another shelter in sa

The corporate support for the Saints has probably gone up in smoke. My sister's brother-in-law works for a national corporation based in New Orleans. Last week they decided on the spot that they are moving permanently to Orlando. Her brother-in-law and family had to pick up on the spot and move there (moved yesterday). Business has to be conducted and New Orleans is out of business for a half year or more, so they make decisions fast. If they're doing it, a lot of other companies are doing it.

Doesn't it seat 75,000+? That easily makes it the largest stadium in the NFL.

Errr... The largest stadium in the NFL seats 95,000.

Which one? I know that College stadiums are huge, but I don't think that NFL stadiums are that size. Most seat between 50 - 60 thousand.

I'm doing the research right now... I always thought that NFL stadiums were smaller than that. I'm a Steelers fan, Heinz field on seats 65,000. Ravens stadium seats 70,000; Bengals seats 65,000, Browns seats 73,000. Maybe the AFC North just has small stadiums.

Also keep in mind that the college stadiums don't have very much space per person. Many/most have bleachers, while all the NFL stadiums have individual seats. So FedEx Field is probably the largest stadium in the US.

What I'm wondering is how the Cardinals haven't been moved yet.

There isn't any West Coast city that they would fit in; Christ, not even USC can sellout in Los Angeles.

They'd have to go to a football crazy area to support such a crap team.

San Antonio is likely to be home to the Saints for a while yet. Milwaukee is Packer territory. Apparently Florida can't support three teams, let alone four.

Chicago could potentially support two teams, and it would be a homecoming of sorts. (Not entirely sure... are today's Cardinals a direct descendant of the original Chicago Cardinals franchise?) Maybe Austin? A second team for either Pennsylvania city? They couldn't survive here in Columbus, no way they could outshine the Buckeyes.

I just can't see them lasting in Phoenix much longer.

Is FedEx Field all individual seats? That is impressive. I'm sure that would make them the largest stadium, volume-wise.

Can't beat the college stadiums for atmosphere, though. You make fast friends sitting on those bleachers in Ann Arbor.

All right, I finished my stadium research.

I admit that I was (embarassingly) wrong with my ignorant assertion that the Jags stadium is the biggest stadium in the NFL. I should have known about Fed Ex field, as my finacee and her family are big Skins fans. Anyway (for those who care)

The Jags Stadium (Alltel) is the 4th largest in the NFL, and seats over 78,000.

The only stadiums bigger than it are:
Fed Ex Field(Redskins)- ridiculously huge,seats roughly 92,000
The Meadowlands (N.Y. Giants and Jets)- roughly 80,000
Arrowhead Stadium (K.C. Chiefs)- roughly 80,000

Most NFL stadiums seat between 65 - 72 thousand

The smallest NFL stadium is the RCA Dome (Colts). It seats 55,500.

I knew that the Jags stadium was unreasonably big (at least I was partially right). I wonder why they didn't build a stadium with average/ below average capacity, considering it is one of the NFL's smallest markets? A nice 58 - 60 thousand seat stadium probably would have done the trick. The stadium is too big, especially when considering that major market cities like Chicago and St. Louis have smaller stadiums.

I think that the Cards are on the verge of a major breakout. They have a great WR corps, a fine young RB in Arrington, a good O line, and an emerging D. They should win the NFC West this year. If they start to perform, they could probably arrange some sort of new stadium deal.

As for where they could move... Maybe Portland, Oregon or Omaha, Nebraska. Nebraskans love their college football... maybe they could support a pro team.

EDIT: Adding San Antonio to my list of possible Cardinals destinations.

I am surprised no one has poked alot of fun at this city for having a nfl quality stadium with no team. A dome that was paid for by our taxes and was not used often for football. When the spurs played there, they only used half of the dome. Since they spurs have a new arena the dome is hardly used

San antonio supports both the texans and the cowboys. more the cowboys then the texans. S A has been looking for its own nfl team for a while but not under these circumstances. This city will support a major franchise if we get one. Its funny they almost sell out the dome for preseason games they have had in the dome the past few years, dont see why, if they get a team, they couldnt sell it out

Avatar Enlargement: We've got the solution

I would have thought they would sell out every week and it would be an extremely tough ticket (I know that OSU is a very tough ticket at about 105,000 per game and I expect it is the same at Michigan with 111,000). But I guess having the 8th highest average home attendance at > 85,000 per game is nothing to sneeze at. It's a pretty damn huge stadium at 92,000 capacity.

I have recently been reading the news stories about where the saints will play, and am now disgusted by a lot of reporters. Wtf man the city of san antonio is not trying to steal the saints The city has opened the doors for more then just the football team, it distrubs me these so called reporters refer to this city as vultures circling the scene. When in actuality the city has done nothing but offer the team a temporary home until their regular home is available and safe for them to return. Has this insanity gotten so far out of minds realms that all these genusis's that are out there to report the news in a non biased fashion have no clue that what they are actually doing is trying to create an uproar?
