Provost korn469 announced that University Special Forces have liberated Gagarin Memorial from the tyrannical clutches of evil Spartan Federation. The peace loving citizens of Gargarin Memorial had organized into various resistance cells to help facilitate the end of Spartan occupation. Forward elements of the Spartan Federation Expeditionary Force surrended, after being cut off from their supply routes.

However, on a sour note, more Spartan amphibious assaults have taken place, and regretfully Korolev Center was lost to the Spartan onslaught. Provost korn469 vowed that every base captured in this fist wave of the Spartan invasion would be liberated with the greatest haste.

Though there is no official comment from any government sources, rumors abound that Provost korn469 is planning his own amphibious assault against the despotic Spartan Federation.

In other news, trade with the Gaians has hit an all time high, and in recognition of our longstanding ties with the Gaians, Provost korn469 is planning on presenting Lady Tau Ceti with a gift to commemorate the 25th anniversary of landing on Planet.

The UoP Defense Ministry (UPDM) just released word that a classified number of units liberated Lab Three from horrible oppression by the Spartan Federation. The UPDM also released word that University intelligence forces cracked the Spartan network and downloaded valuable scientific research.

Upon cracking the network, it appears that the Spartan Federation's economy is vastly inferior to ours. The government only runs a surplus of nine energy credits a year, and has sixty-six energy credits in reserve. Of great interest is the fact that by 2127 Spartan federation Scientist will discover Doctrine:Loyalty. It appears that our fears are true, that the evil Colonel Pagan[CyC] will enact a police state to control his drones and further increase the size of his army.

In happier news, Provost korn469 was on hand for the opening of the Virtual World, which was immediately linked to all of the Network Nodes across the University of Planet. This virtual reality network is the culmination of Provost korn469's dream of making life easier on Planet for the citizens of the University.

The UoP State Department (UPSD) revealed the nature of the University's gift to Lady Tau Ceti commemorating the 25th anniversary of the landing on Planet. It was a technical grant in the spirit of maintaining the free flow of information across Planet to all free citizens. The first was the technology unlocking secrets of the human brain, this technology is a stepping stone to unlocking many of planets mysteries and for discovering green economics which is one of Lady Tau Ceti's goals. The other technology was non-linear mathematics, which will help our ally defend herself from aggression by the Spartan Federation.

In our top story, Provost korn469 attended a candle light vigil held for the seventy thousand University citizens killed so far in our present conflict with the vile Spartan Federation. At the end of the candle vigil, Provost korn469 consecrated a memorial to the deceased and lit an eternal flame for the victims of Spartan Federation atrocities.

Working in tandem with the peaceful Gaians, who were equally shocked by the depravity of the Spartan Federation, the free world put ten years of economic sanctions on the Spartan Federation for their blatant disregard for the U.N. charter. It appears that the Spartan Federation has shifted the focus of their war, from a war of conquest to a war of extermination.

The University Explorer Corps located a Unity survey pod that uncovered the position of a Spartan Federation naval unit lurking off our cost. University Special Forces acted quickly and impressed the unit into our Navy.

The UPSD leaked word that the first Planetary Council had just been convened and all indications point to a landslide victory for Provost korn469 in the elections for Planetary Governor. Though Provost korn469 was at the memorial service and unable to comment, we all know our good-natured Provost will bring enlightened leadership to the Planetary Council.

Spartan scientists at the scene were amazed to learn that University citizens have had their genetic structure modified to include rabbit genes. Provost korn469's close victory over Lady Tau Ceti in the elections for Planetary Governor has not gone down well with some of the Lady's most ardent supporters. Allegations that the election was 'fixed' and that there was widespread buying of votes have been put forward. Some also point to the speculative transmissions from UPNet in the days before the election, where pictures of korn469 attending funerals and candle vigils for the victims of the war were routinely put in the middle of election coverage. In addition, all early polls - conducted by University statisticians - showed an overwhelming support for korn469's candidacy; the final tally shows that the vote was very close indeed.

Lady Tau Ceti has refused to comment on these allegations, except to say that 'there is no proof of anything being tampered with'. She has sent her personal congratulations to the Provost, urging him to take the very close vote into consideration in his policy choices.

and i see that units only lose one move when unloading off of a ship into a forested square, so that finally explains how you captured Gargarin Memorial...does it only cost one movement point to unload into a rocky square too? if so firaxis need to fix both of those things

Provost korn469 addressed the full senate tonight with joyous news. Elements of the newly formed UoP Aerospace Force struck targets in the Spartan Federation territory. He also imposed rationing and geared the entire University economy for a long war against the Spartan Federation. Unveiling the rationing cards, the Provost stated that many of the economic freedoms enjoyed were temporarily suspended to boost military production, but would be reinstated at the conclusion of the UoP-Spartan war. He also formally charged Colonel Pagan[CyC] with violating the U.N. charter and vowed that Colonel Pagan[CyC] would face a warcrimes tribunal.

While remaining evasive about the exact numbers and capabilities of the UPAF, Provost korn469 did state that Aerospace Force would more than triple in size over the next five years, and our bombers would destroy Spartan military resistance opening the way for an amphibious assault. The capture of Sparta Command is a top priority. Stating that our superior weapons easily outgun the Spartans, Provost korn469 predicted a change of momentum in our favor.

In other news asked about the Gaians completion of the Command Nexus, Provost korn469, said that he had no comment but reaffirmed the fact that the UoP-Gaian alliance remains as strong as ever. In his own words he said "Now is not the time to confuse friends with enemies."

Early this morning Provost korn469 attended the last day of the annual University Base cherry blossom festival. He took the opportunity to surprise both the University's civilian populace, and the hapless Spartan Federation, in a display of University military prowess. An entire squadron of the brand new Tu-30 Blizzard model attack aircraft flew over Provost Avenue during the height of the cherry blossom parade. Lighting their after burners they left the shocked crowd with a deafening sonic boom. As the sonic boom faded, spontaneous applause greeted the Provost, who then held an impromptu news conference.

He stated that University attack aircraft had already raided Sparta Command destroying the entire Spartan garrison there. He then went on to state that the aircraft involved in the flyby were heading to our north western shores to sink a Spartan troop transport loaded with Spartan soldiers. He informed us that the UPAF was quickly growing and in this year alone they had destroyed eight Spartan military units. Stating that even more Tu-30s were coming online, he gave full assurances that the tide of the Spartan-UoP war had turned strongly in our favor.

In a related story, Provost korn469's popularity hit an all time high with a 92% approval rating. In the newest UPNeT poll for the upcoming election for Provost, korn469 leads in the election race by an insurmountable margin of over 80%.
