Sunday night game was a finbar horse affair. The main interest in the game is trading at this stage. The fact that the comp put the Russian and Viking ai civs on the same island has led to some interesting ai behaviour - when they aren't beating the cr*p out of each other, they ally and attack finbar and I.

Played the finbar/hydey briefly but hydey succumbed to his fevers (get well soon son) and so finbar and I had a rather long session of our game. The Russians were reduced to one city and the Vikings aren't looking too flash either.
In a moment of wickedness I bribed a city finbar had just taken. It was fun while it lasted but we replayed the turn.

Yeah, so now it's down to the Vikings. Who gets which Viking bit? And, more importantly, what happens once the Vikings have bitten the Civ dust?

Well when the Vikings fall (to me I expect), "England shall not brook a double reign, of Harry Percy (I'd say that's you in this metaphor) and the Prince of Wales (or his horse)".

Another session of the finbar hydey. I wish someone would finish off the Indians who attack me incessantly.

That's easy for you to say - I have to deal with their wacky navy, which can actually do some damage.

Gee. I'll be 22 on March 30. She's about a fortnight away from being an Aries. Consider that a stroke of luck, Horse.

As it happens, Mrs Horse got sick and went to bed early so finbar and I got in a session of our game.
Strange ettiquette. The Vikings went the way of the Russians, reduced to 2 cities.

Alas, apologising all the way (my army saying, "sorry", "was that your head?" and "pardon me" as they looted and burned), the Horse empire was left with no choice but to attack the finbar empire in the last session of the finbar hydey game.
The finbar empire was noticed making sinister military preparations, assembling a large army on the Western border of our heartland and researching military techs which could have given them a decisive military advantage if they attacked whilst the bulk of our army was far from our capital (which it was). So, with a heavy heart the Horse Force struck pre-emptively at finbar's weakly defended Western border region. The attack, though cut short by incessant complaints from the Hydey empire about the time it was taking, was very successful. Taking 8 of his cities of which 7 were held, capturing the Seti program, gaining all the military techs finbar had secretly researched and splitting his now tottering empire in two.

Yes, finbarville falls along with 3 other cities and finbar gives his cities to Hydey. Smart move. Horse 42 cities 179 units. Hydey 34 cities, 106 units. Game on.

Sorry, Hydey, I stuffed up what was a great plan. I didn't realise that, when ceding cities, you only transferred the units inside the cities. The units attached to cities, but fortified outside the cities, seem to disappear. Having hardly ever ceded cities, I had no idea. Next time I'll know to relocate the fortified units back inside the cities.
Horse isn't that far ahead of you in techs. And I ICQd you in regard to his tactics. Yes, he has a huge number of units, but a lot of them are committed on my mainland. He obviously has more, but his invasion force needs to be massive, so he has either to re-deploy from my mainland, or build a second invasion force. He's probably already doing the latter, but I suspect you have some time on your side. That was basically the thinking behind my decision.

finbar, if you or hydey can load your auto save or have a save, I'm happy for us to go back to your last turn and you can give hydey all your units and techs too. Alternatively, you two should regroup and exchange cities so you both have defensible empires to go on with
