On the subject of who wins, combined score won't work, cause if you get a "Military" victory, then it is very possible to prolong the game, and thus increase your score almost indefinitely. (By limiting your opponents to only the energy in their last bases square).

I would say 2 wins is a win, and 1 win, 1 loss is a tie. That way Googlie and I have two ways of "winning" (win or tie)against the great Tau Ceti and Misotu.
