2192 to Basil
-------
Sorry about the reload. I got an "Unable to allocate Draw Buffer, terminating program" near the end of my turn (about 1 hours work), and had to start all over. ::bummer::.
I tried to do everything the same, but there were inevitable differences. I lost 1 less unit in Morgan war, but progress was the same. Prabably other minor differences in exactly how I moved units.
--------
Basil will become my submissive, or be destroyed next turn. I read in iirc, the axt039 thread, where Paul was eliminated by Vitaro, that I can't take the last base, or the game will end. It is a bug. Is that right, Paul. Does it only apply to smax or smac too? Does it apply with AIs in the game?
I can't remember exactly what to do, but it was something like:
set base to all specialists
set vendetta to all factions
(what happens if Sparta, or Gaia takes the base?)
Googlie would end-turn the faction each turn.
Hopefully this isn't going to be a problem in this game.

I first had this problem in ACT006 and later also in ACT035. Both were SMAC games on the tournament map. I don't know if this problem also exists in random map games; I guess you'll just have to try to capture that last base. Anyway, here's a copy and paste of Tau Ceti's response to the problem in ACT006:
quote:

This has happened in several other games as well. Sadly, there is no clean solution - if that last base is ever captured or destroyed, the game will end immediately.
Therefore, the sub-optimal solution that is used is that the base is left alive, set to Stockpile Energy, population that is not needed is made into doctors, Grigger's energy allocation is set to 100% psych, any trade treaties he has (none in this case, I believe) are cancelled, and the city is off limits for the rest of the game.
Unfortunately, this deprives Paul of a base. It seems, however, that nothing can be done to prevent this. If that last base is a very large or important one, containing SPs or the like, I would suggest that Paul take control of the University, rush a colony pod, build a new, worthless base somewhere else and take over the original base afterwards. Otherwise, leave it as it is.
In either case, one of you will have to play Grigger's turn (just pressing turn complete) and will need his password. It should not matter too much who that is; up to you.
Sorry about this but it is outside my control. No idea what causes it.

2193 to Googlie
---------
Basil:
Thank-you for your submition. I note you destroyed all your units in your 2 bases. This was not nescessary, if you wish to submit, and continue playing at my side.
If however you wish to not continue playing, then I believe it is a loss for you rather than a submition. I could use your help. Perhaps we can set you up with 5 or 6 very large bases to your north!
All:
Shall we mark those 2 bases of Basils "out of bound" until we figure out what his intentions are?
Communication from Chairman Big_Canuk
Commissioner Paul:
I understand your desparate move, however ill advised. You will note I have mind controlled the base you took, along with all your military. I have also captured another base. If you continue, you will be utterly destroyed. If you make a unconditional truce now, and destroy all your heavy defensive units in your bases, we can talk the terms of peaceful co-existance on this planet. They are subject to negotiation, but will include:
No building of military units (Ceo Basil and I will provide for your defense.
Pact with me and me only.
Send all you research my way for 20 turns
Compensate me for the cost of this war (700 ec cost of mind controlling my base)
Any other terms which I think would be fair.
If you do not accept now, then unconditional submition, or total destruction will be your only future options.

Basil:
Sorry for the confusion. At that point I was offering you something less than complete formal submition. So if you were not "formally submissive", then I would of course be concerned about an "uprising".
By formally posting a submition in the thread, you commit to not going back on your word. And your fate is then tied to your "master". If he looses, you loose(get -1). If he wins, you win (get 0).
I suppose you could declare vendetta again if you master, say, used a planet buster, or something else that would cause AI submissives to revolt, but even then, it would not be in your interest.
