How do I change the terrain when Map Making? Remove this text

I pretty sure this has been answered before, but I couldn't find it. I am trying to make a multilevel map which all have Earth Terrain. I can change the rules.txt, and copt terrain1 and terrain2 files to terrain3 through terrain8. But the sprites are still Alpha Centari on map 2 and I think come from the fantasy game for map 3&4. Their are intermitant black or partial sea squares. In otherwords FUBAR.

Is there any way I can make all 4 world look ike Earth in the Orginal Game, or do I have to delete sprites? If so which do I delete? I don't care about the Units at this point, just getting the terrain to be normal?

Support Apolyton buy from Amazon

If I recall correctly, the resourse.spr from Time Threat Paradox is all 'normal map' resources - try that one, or as you suggest, just turn off the terrain animations.

Support Apolyton, buy GURPS/ Alpha Centauri

Thanks, I will give it a try.

Does any one know how may files the terrain sprites use? I thought I got all of them, yet they still persist. Also, is their any way to designate what sprites are used on what map? Like if I wanted to have two Earth sprited worlds then two under sea sprited worlds.

Rathgar1,

Sorry, I'm not sure what you mean by your first question.

On the second, I hope I'm wrong, but at this early stage of my familiarity of this whole deal, the resourse.spr files from existing Miroprose games are the only ones available. As such, I think you can only 'borrow' the ones from the two scenarios and the game variants that come on the disk. I present this answer with a degree of hesitancy, but I believe that's the case.

By my first question I mean:
What files do I have to disable/delete to turn off the sprites. Is their one sprite file for all the terrain(ie: both Earth and Centari share the same file) or is their one per world(ie: delete the Centari Sprite file)
My guess is that there is just one terrain file, but I am not sure.
Also , can I turn off the sprites for map 2-4 but leave them on for Earth?

The animated special resources are pretty much an all-or-nothing deal. You can turn them off by renaming the file resource.spr (so that the game doesn't recognize it). There's also an option (added in the patch) to switch them off for a scenario.

Just though I would mention that once Sprite Workshop is finished (probably in about another few days) you will be able to edit the resource sprites and any other ones for that matter.
