Event Flags Support Apolyton, buy Galactic Civilizations

John, is there a way to get a TriggerReceiver (or TriggerAnything) from a CheckFlag Somebody?

In my experiments with it the TriggerReceiver is always the Barbarians no matter whom the Somebody was.

Put an end to popups!

Sorry for the delay. We have bigwigs from Hasbro Interactive HQ in the building this week, and it's hard to get anyone to answer intelligent questions in between meetings. (First, you have to wake them up, get their eyes unglazed...)

Okay, I have the answer, and it's definitely...maybe.

When you use the CheckFlag trigger, you have the option of including a "Who=" line. If you don't include that, none of the Trigger+ stuff will work in the action. If you do include a "Who=", then the Who 'field' has a value. This means that TriggerAttacker--but no other Trigger+ words--should have the same value (a tribe name) that you specified in the CheckFlag trigger for "Who=". (Since TriggerDefender and TriggerReceiver are based on the Whom field, which has no meaningful value, they shouldn't be used.)

So you can't use this to gather in-game information, but you could use it to specify exactly which tribe is "Who" for an action that uses a "TriggerAttacker" or "Who" field.

So, the TriggerAttacker variable is set to the value of the Who but only if I specify explicitly who the Who is, like Who=Romans. If I do not know who the who is, like Who=Somebody, then it will not tell me who the who is. Yes?

This is not the answer I was hoping for of course. Please add this one to the Patch 1.2 wish list, John.

P.S. Is there anyone out there following this thread who would like an example of what we are talking about?

Yes, you must explicitly set the Who value. "Somebody" or "Anybody" are just instructions to poll the set of flags, so the Who in those cases never gets set.

Here's my favorite line:

"If I do not know who the who is, like Who=Somebody, then it will not tell me who the who is. Yes?"

Thanks William.....Dr Seuss would be proud!
