I have never played multi-player because I dont have the right version. What are the main differences? Are the graphics any better/worse?

Support Apolyton, buy Civilization: The Boardgame

Well the main difference is that in Single player you play against the stupid AI, who does the same thing every game and they become tedious and easy.

In multiplayer you play against human beings. With all the infanite cunning and skill a computer can never replicate. Depending on who you play it is much harder (or easier depending). Different people, different playing styles. More fun and varied. Makes the game communal, you make friends while playing, and get to know people. Rather than playing against robots you are matching your wits against an equal opponent. Adds to the sweetness of victory.

Basically the difference between single player and multiplayer is the diffence between masturbation and sex.

Support Apolyton, pre-order Civilization IV

All of the above... (I just love listening to my opponent whine)

But another difference is the AI. It is far more aggressive in the MPG edition of the game. While the diplomacy side of SP was never really good, forget it in MP. No matter how nice you are, how good your reputation, how many gifts you give, the AI's just learns to hate you very quickly.

The question, "How are they the same" would require less time to answer.

Civ 2 MP is basiclaly just a patch on Civ 2 Sp so many things are the same, which causes many "loopholes" in civ 2 mp . go read Mings thread on this in civ 3 section..

Other differences are speed, much slower in MP, mainly due to internet bandwidth, but also player negoptiations and planning going on while you wait...

Best thing is to find a regular crowd. Or to justlearn for fun goto www.zone.com , thats not the real thing but its good enough to learn from. (a bit like the difffernce between sex with a man and sex with a woman, not the real thing but you will learn a lot !!!)

Suffering from ads?

While Zoners are light weights, I wouldn't use the same analogy as that,
I don't think.

The difference is unlike the ai which will throw 16 crusaders against you city and lose ...... Humans can win .... right MING Damm am i glad i built great wall.

Wonders are different in MP too...... ie they hold more value.... in SP i never build the Wall...... or GLibrary...... these pay off in MP games especially large ones......

As does pyramids and lighthouse etc...... many wonders i simply do not build in SP

plus no city bribe with the groups i play.... no alliances and no tech trading etc....

all players have their set of rules.... i prefer to call mine "Rah" rules or War4ever
