forum moved and renamed... Browse Apolyton AD-FREE

the forum has moved to the Alternative Civs/Other Games category of the forums and has been renamed to Dinosaurs from Dino-General/Suggestions

it will stay here in case anyone wants to make a discussion about it and up until Firaxis gets back to it(if they ever do)...

I may be wrong, but I am pretty sure that comes from a post that was transfered from the old uBB board to vBB. All of his old posts that are before the switch have this oddity.

Anyone that registered early enough, in the first couple months of Apolyton have that older date.

Tired of ads?

And there I was thinking that Apolyton existed back in the days of ARPANET.

And more importantly, what was discussed here from 1970 until 1992 when Civ was released?

Yup. Little-known fact, but the first civ game was originally programmed onto punch-cards.

Is Dinosaurs definitely gone for good? I was mildly interested in it. Not as much as Civ3, of course, but more than SidGolf. Damn you, Yin!

They said indefinetely. So I think most people expect it is gone forever.

I mean think about it, how do you make a dino strategy game? The way I see it, the only way to really do it is to basically make dinos people and have them do DinoCiv or make them aliens and have DinoCraft. Or I guess you could go DinoSim. I see no alternative and the people that used to post on this forum didn't either. And probably, Firaxis couldn't come up with another way to make the game so they canned it.

It would have been to much like another game or it just wouldn't have worked and so they said to heck with it, we'll make a golf game. But if you have any other ideas, I am sure Firaxis might just put take their art and use your idea for a fresh new game...

I always thought the Dinos idea was strange one. Sid works in quasi-realistic game environments. How would that work with Dinosaurs?
