Dear all,
I will be hosting several PBeM games in anticipation of the patch. I intend to run at least 5 or 6 with daily turnarounds.
If you'd like to play in any of these games (or indeed all) i'd like you to write in and register your interest.
I'll be posting the threads for each of these games as players register there entries.
These will all initially be straight start games so things will be quiet to begin with but the games will soon pick up. I will also host quickstart games when i get the Mac conversion pack working.
Let me know how often you can play and what civ you'd prefer (first and second choice) and start scheduling you all in!
I look forward to some great gaming!

I'd be willing to play in a PBeM game, but how do you play it?

As soon as the patch is released - i'll host a game. All i have to do is know what civ you want to play, your e-mail address and voila.
It then plays much like a hotseat game. A feature you currently have.

We'll be using the dutcheese pack. It seems a great of PC mod's can be run on the Mac (see the other posting here in the forum). I will be hosting games running the dutcheese pack.
Assuming playtesting tonight goes well we can all look forward to the following:
Quick Start for PBEM Games
Start with 25 advances, 20,000 public works, 15,000 gold, 10 settlers, a knight, and a transport. The first 10 cities created by each player auto grow to size 5 if built before turn 4. Uses random map features and standard rules.
Beginning special units posses extended movement, 0 firepower, 1 hitpoint and are removed at turn 3.
This should help us meet early in the game.

Hey, Baston,
You know I agreed to a PBeM game before you ever moved to Apolyton. But what's the Dutcheese mod? What exactly does it do and why do you want to use it?
I know the Awesome AIPS and Apolyton pack, but not Dutcheese...
I'll play as the Hebrews.

ThirdJesus...
I am not keen on the apolyton pack to be honest - only because it changes too much. It still sounds like its good but just too buggy for regular play - even if those bugs are well documented.
 |
Well first off, you really should try it. Although it does change the game fairly greatly, all of the changes are improvements over the original game. It's really not all that buggy, you probably won't experience any crashs/serious problem, probably the most annoying part is the whole "start a new game, then load" thing, but that takes less then 1 minute.
This isn't a mod that completely turns the game on it's ear, it simply improves on it. Even if you don't plan to use it in the PBeM games, you should try it sometime.

Will it work with both?

Now that I've looked into it, I kind of doubt it. However, someone (me) could edit the Dutcheese files to make them work with the apolyton pack, I'd be willing to do this but I wouldn't bother unless people are interested in it.
The problem is that Dutcheese uses some of the files other mods use, (hence causing a conflict) obviously since other crossover mods have been made before, I'm sure it could be done with Dutcheese and apolyton.
I think the best idea would be to run the first games with Dutcheese and then, if their's interest, try crossing apolyton pack with Dutcheese and run the PBeM games that way.

I am impressed though with your dedication and work... keep it up my good friend!

Thanks! You're doing a great job yourself!
Anyway, try the apolyton pack, if I see some interest/if I feel like it, I'll try to get Dutcheese working with apolyton (I suspect it won't be too hard, unless their's some really evil problem )

Okay i tried installing the dutcheese pack, but their were problems. I put the three files from the dutcheese folder into the gamedata folder. But when i start the game up their are two warning signs, and after the second sign the game automatically quits. Do you know what i'm doing wrong?

Cool!
For all Dutcheese based Mac PBeM game's i'll start a new thread with people i know or am presuming to play.
I'll start the game in a few days.
If you miss, don't worry, i want to have several running... so you'll easily play in another.
I check my e-mail every single day.
You'll see the thread "dutcheese pbem 1" started as new topic in the ctp macintosh forum.

NOTE - If you wish to quit or if a player quits then detach yourself like so.
Type ' to open the chat window. Then you type /attach # where # is the number of the player to attach an AI to. To put the player back to human you type /detach # in the chat window.
