CTP2 is a wonderful game. Just one thing though...is it me, or does it seem that the mayors for each city make this game a bit too 'hands-free'? I've played CTP for a long time and enjoyed the challenge of trying to maximize each cities effectness according to its situation. The mayors make this part of the game really easy...a lot of fun, yet very easy.

hmmmm I dont' know. I like to keep control of my top 10 cities or so and let the mayors have fun. though I still have to watch them. sometimes they do things I don't want them to do. like start building a tank that is going to take them 60 turns to complete when if I wanted a tank there I could crank one out in my capitol in 4. and drive it there.

That's one of the instances I'm talking about.
I must have spend 30 minutes trying to figure out how to place each individual worker for my cities on the map as I could in CTPI. I finally realized that the majors do this for me automactically.
I opened up the box, popped in the CD, installed, and played. Used the default settings. Had no problem defeating the AI. I just moved my men and watched the pretty graphics. Maybe I'm just so used to multiplayer...haha

My problem with the mayors is that in some cases they are not trustworthy. They remind me of the advisors in civ 2 who would ALWAYS recommend building millitary units regardless of what is going on the game. This is my problem with the mayors in this game. I wish you could enable mayors but set them so they do NOT build millitary units. EX: you have a city selected for "growth" and run out of improvements, rather than building millitary units the mayor would select infastructure until a new city improvement comes along.
Also I am a bit concerned with the way the mayor selects units. I was playing in the 2nd to last stage of the game and suddenly had the mayor building infantrymen (over machine gunners etc) which drove me crazy!!!

C:\Program Files\Activision\Call To Power 2\ctp2_data\default\aidata
In this directory you will find a file called BuildListSequences. You can remove the lines that include building defensive or offensive units. That should take care of that problem building those units. After I modified this file I never had a problem with the mayors. Have Fun!
