Build Advanced Farm/Fishery/Mine or Regular ones? Browse Apolyton AD-FREE

Which is best to build. Say your on a limited PW budget of 500 PW a turn and have an expansive empire. Do you build up all your numerous cities with regular improvements (then replace later with advanced)...or build up a few with more costly Advanced ones when technology becomes available? (This would seem to leave many of your cities unimproved for sometime..just never enough Public Works to build the advanced for all your cities).

Support Apolyton, buy Civilization: The Boardgame

we have a few simple rules on these forums:
1) post your thread only in one forum
2) post your thread in the right forum

the attitude of posting in the wrong forum cause not it's not as visited as others only leads to a worse set of forums for everyone

For myself, I generally go with the middle level improvements ('advanced' this-or-that). They are almost as cost-effective as the entry level, and you aren't as likely to replace them later. Note that an entry-level mine on a mountain will do you more good as a medium-level mine on plains, but cost less.

However, there is one reason not to do so: war. If the enemy is likely to pillage your improvements, consider using entry-level stuff (so it takes him longer to damage you), or Mega-level stuff (so you can park defenders on that tile).
