Page fault error Enter the AD-FREE zone

I've just installed CTP2 and I can't get it to work. I've tried minimum and maximum installs, high and low CPU. I tried lowering my resolution to 16bit 800x600. I am using P550Mhz 256MB ram, Voodoo3. I am running Japanese version of Windows, but that has never caused any problems with any other games.

I get the following error alert when I try to run CTP2:

CTP2 caused

Has anyone been able to resolve a similar prolem?

I have two (feeble) suggestions:

Before re-installing, make sure you manually delete all CTP2 files first,
including files in other directories that you may have installed to.

Secondly, your system should be perfectly capable of handling the max install options. I have a sneaky suspicion that your problem has something to do with the Japanese version of windows. Even though other games work with this version, Activision will find a way to crash.

If you still get the same problem with the english version of windows, then you can at least eliminate one cause.

Good Luck. (Sorry I couldn't be more helpful)

Tired of ads?

The language of your Windows shouldn't make any difference, I'm using a Dutch version myself. However, it *does* matter what version of Windows you're using. Do you use Widows 95, 98, 2000, ME or NT? It's a known problem that Windows NT and either ME or 2000 (not sure which one) can have problems with running CtP2. If you have one of these versions, all I can suggest is install a different version. If this is not the case, I have no idea what the problem might be.

page fault errors are memory related. unless you want to spend the next six months allocating memory blocks manually, just buy some more ram.

Support Apolyton buy from Amazon

As stated above, I have 256MB RAM. I haven't come across any PC games that required more than that. Still no luck on running this on my desktop Japanes windows. It does run on my Compaq laptop (also with Japanese windows) with 64MB of RAM. Tried changing video card, taking the sound card and netword card out without any luck. Maybe the game doesn't like my motherboard.

I have the same page fault error at startup after reinstalling yesterday. CTP2 ran fine for months before I uninstalled in January. There have been no changes in hardware or drivers since then, so what could have changed? Any suggestions?

I have had the same page fault problems, but I have found a solution in my case. There is a conflict with CTP2 and Nortons Anti-Virus 5.0 running in Win ME. Until I had a "blue screen of death" incident and noticed the referenced program was NAVDX, I thought regular page faults were a CTP2 game bug. I now disable the auto-protect on the Nortons and don't get any more page faults.
