A question about units in forts when government is Democracy Support Apolyton buy from Amazon

Of course when your government type is Democracy you suffer from unhappy people when units are away from home or not in a fort. My question is, how far can that fort be away from one of your cities. I thought it was 2 sqaures (city radius). The CIV book says 3 sqaures. ! did I just not know this (wondering why I get beat so badly so often... ). Is it 2 or 3 sqaures from a city?

I've placed forts 3 squares away many times without creating discontent.

I think it is three. SDI protects up to 3 away also.

now is that three spaces from the city the unit is built in or three spaces from any of your cities and does that include three spaces diagonally as well..... i never build forts ....... except to bottleneck an area

Hey, while reading the CIV book (MP gold), it does cover bomber stacking, kinda. So I dont consider this a cheat.
