Where should we go now? Tired of ads?

We need some structur in this project. At the moment the only action going on is in the combat thread, and even that has falled back to a list of "let's do that and that and that".

All other aspects of the game are on hold. And this is definately not good.

I think that we have all overestimated the power of volunteer work. the whole concept of OC3 was, that people should be able to come and go as they pleased, and do as little or as much as they wanted. This workds great in theory. Unfortunately we have far less team members than we had thought we would have. This means that the loose, noncommitting structur is not working out.

Therefor I think that all of us, that are seriously interested in the game, and who want to spend a significant amount of time on the project, should decide what aspects of the game each of us will focus on. We should try to have more than one person focusing on every single aspect of the game. The more temporary team members will of cause just post where they want to post.

But the members who are interested in doing some work on the project should try to post in their "designated topic" every time they come here. This should make the discussion get off the ground again, and allow us to begin designing a game.

Crucial aspects of the game, like economy, politics and most importantly population, have been neglegted for a significant time now. If we don't have a population model a great combat system is worthless.

Therefor I think that we should get some structure on this project.

Another, equally important thing is the amount of members we have. At the moment we simply don't have enough members to design a game. that's a fact. We all imagined that a lot of people would want to join our project. This has not happened. We must ask ourselves, whether there is room for yet another open, web based civ game. I don't have the answer for that, and I doubt anyone has. But we really need more team members.

If we do not get that our project will slowly move towards an inevitable death.

How could we attract more members to the team? Before we can focus on designing the game we need to work out these administrative problems.

Sincerely

A concerned Joker.

I agree with heardie - preparing the preliminary models will solve hopefully both the lack of structure problem and team member problem. About population model, I'm working on it, and I truly hope it will be ready soon. After that I will complete the map model. Then we should all have a little easier.

I know. I just tryed to sum up what we should do in the administrative area.

The models will cover most of this. But as axi adviced us in the economy model thread, we should by all means try to have more than one guy doing each model. Having just one will mean that the model will not evolve very much. It also creates a greater risk of the model having some huge flaw, that the person doing it has not thought about (this can happend for everybody). Therefor we should be as many people as possible doing each model.

I will now go to the models thread and sign up for some models. We should all do this.

Avatar Enlargement: We've got the solution

Like I said, the only real 'job'of the model leader is to summarize the best ideas.
