Question: If I take MUN & then disband that army in the next season-Winter, I won't lose MUN willI?
This is an rather important issue; understanding the order of the adjustment cycle is vital to understanding this game!
A supply centre occupied by a unit after Fall moves, is counted -at least for the duration of one year- as controlled by the power which occupied the centre, even when that power would disband that same occupying unit during adjustments.
XIII.1 "Occupation .... occurs when one of its units is located in that supply centre after a Fall move has been played, complete with retreats. Once occupation has been established, the centre may be left vacant for as long as the player sees fit...."
So this is the order during a Fall turn:
1. Fall moves
2. Fall retreats
3. Counting of supply centres
4. Adjustment: building/disbanding
Things that aren’t clear for me:
1. France has an army in Paris? (it said so in the Adjustments list, but doesn’t appers in the armies list)
Current position of units:
1874/75
ENG: F Bel, F MAO, F NWS
FRA: A Bur, A Rom, A Pic, A Kie, A Par, F Nap, F Lpl, F ENC, F Bre, F Mar
GER: A Swe, A Ber, A Ruh, F BAL
AUS: A Ven, A Tyr, A Rum, A Vie, A Bud, A Tri, F ADS
RUS: A Nor, A Mun, A Sil, A Gal, F BLA, F BAR
TUR: A Bul, A Ank, F Con, F Smy
Yes, France has an army in Paris!
2. NRO (=No Retreat Order?), NMR (= No More Replies?) = ? And if there are more abbreviatons.
NRO = No Retreat Ordered
NMR = No Move(s) Received
There are possibly a few other abbreviations. I will probably explain them when necessary.
3. There is no Denmark in the manual abbreviatons ?!?
For Denmark you can use Den. On page 3 of this same thread is an almost complete list of abbreviations used -actually there are two lists. Land provinces are never a problem:
"The first three letters of any space will almost always form an unambiguous abbreviation"
The only exceptions:
Lpl - Liverpool
Lvn - Livonia
NAf - North Africa

France has way too many units! No wonder I miss one.
Thanks guys for the WarRoom program. It's just what I need.
If you happen to know some interesting sites with historical maps (political or battles) please give me a link.

Dear GGS'ers playing Diplomacy,
I have received a message from Nath, informing me he is -for the time being- too busy to send in orders. So the deadline needs to be delayed, unfortunately.
I have asked Nath to be more specific about the required delay, but so far I have not yet received a response. In this first e-mail he suggested I could search a substitute, but -apart from the fact that this is easier said than done- this would not contribute to the feeling of continuity of this game, "L'INVITATION AU VOYAGE", which has already experienced far to many replacements! So I hope he will react soon and the game can continue again.
Having received orders from all other players, these orders will remain valid of course. As ever, you can also send in new orders before the new deadline, replacing the old.
My apologies for the inconvenience!
I will keep you informed.
Sincere regards,
S.Kroeze

Dear GGS'ers playing Diplomacy,
I have succeeded to find a substitute!
Korn469, an old friend of us, agreed to take over Austria-Hungary so our game "L'INVITATION AU VOYAGE " can be continued again.
I propose Tuesday, the 16th of April, 12.00AM(GMT) as the new deadline for Fall 1875; M@ni@c will be back by then.
Having received orders from most players already, those orders remain valid of course. You can also send me new orders before this new deadline, replacing the old.
Korn469's e-mail address is: commiextc@hotmail.com
Sincere regards and Thank you, Korn469!
S.Kroeze
Here is an example of orders for a Fall move:
A Tyr S A Pie
A Pie Holds (Retreat: Ven)
A Rom Holds
F Nap-TYS
F ION S F Nap-TYS (Retreat: ADS)
F Alb-Gre
A Ser S F Alb-Gre
A Bul S A Rum
A Rum S A Bul (Retreat: Bud)
Build priorities:
(If I gain one supply center and don't lose any) 1. F Tri
(If I lose Bulgaria) 1. A Bud, 2. A Vie
When sending in orders it is a good habit to mention the name of the game, the season and the power for which those orders are meant.

Dear Korn469,
I am sorry to hear that some players are not more active.
Yet this is no reason to extend the deadline, nor do I think it would help. When players do not contact you within 10 days, it is highly unlikely they will do so ever.
My advice is to send me temporary orders in the meantime, which you can always change -until the deadline.
Sincere regards,
S.Kroeze

Why is the order 'F Nor S (GER) F GOB - StP sc' valid? After all, Norway does not border St. Peteresburg south coast, isn't it?
The rules state that:
IX.1 "A unit may give up its move in order to support another unit trying to hold or enter a space. This space must be one to which the supporting unit could have moved if not opposed by other units; that is, the space which is the destination of the action being supported must be adjacent to the space in which the supporting unit is located, and must be suitable for an army or fleet, whichever the supporting unit may be."
The crucial word here is space.
St. Petersburg is a space; St. Petersburg south coast is only part of this space. Since a unit in Norway, army or fleet, would be able to move to this space 'St. Petersburg', it is allowed to support a unit holding in or moving to this space. Whether the supported unit is an army, or a fleet located on one of its coasts is irrelevant.
When you would argue that a fleet located on St. Petersburg south coast cannot support any unit holding or entering Norway, I would agree.

Hopefully the project isn't dead, but I don't think there's been any activity over the past couple of months. If anybody else is still interested, I suggest they post in the 'GGS CPR' thread.
Anyway, Trip, thanks for dropping by. Do you code (in C++)? If not, we're still not done designing the game and there's not much artwork done.

Well, glad to hear someone is still alive in here. I do know some stuff about C++, but I haven't coded anything in forever and a day so I would probably have to tune up if I would program anything, and, alas, I never learned how to impliment DirectX. As far as designing stuff, that's my forte at the moment. I'm not so great at graphics, but I can help with some other stuff if necassary. I've written a few design documents for some amateur projects in the past, so I have a bit of experience with designing stuff. Hopefully I can get filled in with what's going on.
