My Game Support Apolyton, buy Call to Power 2

Results just came out http://www.geocities.com/dboshko/2039F1901M.GIF

Turkey:
Ank - Bla: Bounce with Sev 1:1;
Con - Bul: OK
Smy - Con: OK

Russia:
Sev - Bla: Bounce with Ank 1:1;
StP - Bot: OK
War - Gal: Bounce with Vie 1:1;
Mos - Ukr: OK

Italy:
Ven - Pie: OK
Rom - Ven: OK
Nap - Ion: OK

Germany:
Kie - Den: OK
Mun - Ruh: OK
Ber - Kie: OK

France:
Bre - Eng: Bounce with Lon 1:1;
Par - Pic: OK
Mar - Spa: OK

England:
Edi - Nth: OK
Lon - Eng: Bounce with Bre 1:1;
Liv - Yor: OK

Austria:
Tri - Alb: OK
Vie - Gal: Bounce with War 1:1;
Bud - Ser: OK

Now here's what's up. Everyone's moves were pretty much what I expected them to be, expect Italy's bizarre Apline Chicken opening which really threw me for a loop. I'd (successfully) manipulated Austria into leaving Tri open and Italy didn't stab
Oh well. Now I've got to decide whether to support Sev into Rum and stab Turkey or support Ukr into Rum and stab Austria.
Austria is a quiet Norwegian who seems trusting enough . Turkey is a lot more talkative and I think he's a better dipper (or at least Italy claims that he's rumored to be good). So I'm not quite sure what to do in the south.
On the north front, I'm pretty sure I can convince Germany to let me into Sweden and then I can build a unit to grab norway.
The south is really confusing so I'm actually thinking of giving Germany a good beat-down after I grab Swe (or after Nor?). But then I'd be attacking Germany after pissing off England (dumb) or letting a perfectly vulnerable SC pass me buy. This is really getting confusing. Advice would be appreciated.

Italy just sent me this:
Dave,

I thought about taking Tri this season, but I there was no way to hold
it. Additionally, while I tend to trust you, I wasn't so sure about our
boy Austria. It seems to me that the time to grab Tri would be in the
fall. If I had marched in this spring, I would have been subject to
being dislodged 3:2. You tell me if you think my math is wrong on this.

I have no designs on France. I just wanted to be in a position so that
France didn't get 3 builds. 3 french builds in 1901 means F Mar and
trouble for Italy. What can you do to keep Tri clear again this season?

As for alliances, what do you make of Germany and France's moves. It
looks like those two may be looking to jump England.

Larry

P.S. Can you convert the game map to .gif or .jpeg and send it to me. I
don't have MSpaint and can't download the bitmap image. Thanks.

You are looking good for 2 builds. If I can get the same and Austria and
Turkey only get one each, then we will be in good shape.

First, the west:

The italian opening is indeed weird. I cannot believe he did it without prior conferring to Germany. So I would assume Germany plays a double game: alligning with France against E while at the same time encouraging I to fight F.

In any case I would not rule out the possiblity that G moves Ruh - Bur or supports Yor - Bel in fall. So far his and the english guys moves could well be planned together. In that case I would guess Germany does bounce you in Swe. This needs more press to Germany. Make sure he fights england, not France. You wnat France as an ally later, she must not die.

Thats why I also suggest you encourage Italy to move Pie-Mar while you make sure France moves Spa-Mar. This way, the alpine chicken is effectively over

The east:

Do you believe that Italy is really ready to go to Tri this fall? If yes, stab Turkey.

Right now Turkey´s position is good. He does not have to fear a Lepanto anymore. He can concentrate on you or Austria. He will fight you, I´d say, looking at your map. Especially since he will now try to convince Italy to stab Austria. If Italy does, Turkey has only one enemy: you.

Whereas Austria is in grave danger if Italy moves to Tri. It would clearly get him off-balance. So you would not have to fear him anymore for the time being. No need to stab A and offend Germany by that.

Even if you cannot be sure about an italian Ven-Tri, you could profit from the situation:

Tell Austria you have indications that Italy will move to Tri. Suggest he selfbounces in Tri to cover himself. If he does, wich seems likely anyway, he cannot work together with T against you in Rum.

Basically your map looks like mine last year, except for the army in Piedmont. Austria did the self bounce while Italy tried to stab him in Tri. Russia and Turkey stabbed Austria however, wich led to A´s fast removel from the board (already in F02) After that T of course attacked R and when that happened, G joined the fun and Russia had a huge problem. That´s why I believe your enemy should be T. But at the same time you gotta make sure Austria does not grow too fast.

BTW, I take it the bounces in Bla and Gal were pre-arranged?

I suggest:
Sev-Rum, supported by Ukr.
Bot - Swe seems clear, unless you´re unsure about G (in wich case Bot-Bal may be fun)
War H (or if you go Bot - Bal, then War - Sil. That would give Germany something to think about)

However I would not suggest the attack on Germany unless it seems obvious that he bounces you (you know they usually do that)

Hope that helps.

Rrrgh this is such a hard decision. And RUFF told me to have the juggernaut roll

"In any case I would not rule out the possiblity that G moves Ruh - Bur or supports Yor - Bel in fall."
Yes, this could happen, especially since our England replaced an NMRer at the last minute...

"Make sure he fights england, not France."
I'm trying, offering to grab Norway, etc. etc.

"Do you believe that Italy is really ready to go to Tri this fall? If yes, stab Turkey."
I'm 90% sure that Italy will stab Austria. Of course he could be gunning for France and lying to me...

"BTW, I take it the bounces in Bla and Gal were pre-arranged?"
Yup, both

Now I'm still undecided...

impressions of players:
-Italy: get along well with him, seems like a really nice guy despite this move. Told him I'm anti-Austria and I'd rather not lie to him.
Turkey: gives me the creeps. Will have to kill him sooner or later
Austria/Germany: Quiet, newbie-ish
France: Friend. Is trying to pull together a FGRA mass-alliance. Could probably convince him to spare a unit to harass Italy with.

What you're saying sounds good Sahib but I like Italy and Austria would go down a lot quicker than Turkey...
rrrgh...
I was thinking anti-Austria before, now you're changing my mind...
this is hard

Increase Your PM Length

For me thats always the part I love about that game. In the morning, when I drive to work (one hour drive) I sit in my car, thinking, rethinking, shifting nervously in my seat. I love that! Although I tend to be a little paranoid, that´s probably my biggest weakness among many.

Is there any way you can stab Turkey without offending Italy? Because you are right: if you have very good realtions with Italy, thats a good thing, IR is a very strong alliance in midgame. But then again, if A is really a rookie (not just playing the fool) you might save him for later and get the sharks first? Tough decision.

Sahib: well basically your plan calls for Italy getting caught in a nastly dead-lock with Austria while I beat up Turkey, which Italy won't be terribly fond of
Italy is a nice guy, but he was misleading about attacking Austria and he is a lawyer

Oh and Austria isn't a newbie, he's an old FtF/postal/something player just coming out of retirement and he doesn't talk all the much and his grasp of English is a bit sub-par (this puts the internationals at a bit of a disadvantage, there's a frenchie in the game I'm GMing that has horrible english and he got hit by a gang-bang the first turn. But he knew what was coming and pulled off a perfect defense so he's obviously not stupid...).
Germany is the closest we have to a newbie, he's only played two games I think...

update:
I've decided that Italy is a sneaky lawyer and I'm getting along well with Austria. BUT, Turkey just invited me to play some FtF dip in New York this weekend and if we get along well, we'd make perfect allies.
Also, the annoying newbie German is now telling me that I'll "exchange" Nor for Swe and have a German fleet parted in Swe in 1902

AAARGH!

edit: I'm trying to delay the moment of decision a little bit by getting Austria and Turkey to both want me to do the same moves That way I'll still be flexible until at least build-time and I think I'll be able to get two builds if germany stops being annoying...

Tired of ads?

If G is a real newbie, why not lecture him a little, very friendly and father-like? WIth many numbers and abbreviations, so he must believe you are the greatest shark ever. After that he may believe what you say about Swe, especially if you add an DipPouch article about the greatness of R-G alliances.
