	Update From the 1999 Worldmasters E-Mail Championship Support Apolyton, buy Alpha Centauri

They've just completed the first year in the Championship game (and I assume everyone here is pulling for Charlie Steinhardt's France as he played for Apolyton III - MY TEAM). Here's the current situation:

Things looked confused at best with the Spring turn, but an FG alliance became clear with the Fall turn, as F's fleet in the Channel supported G's bump of E out of Nth. No one came away with more than 2 builds (and everyone got at least one) but I's Fall moves (Ion-Tun, while holding the rest) combined with his F Nap build sets up the possibility of a literal stab in the back by I against F in the very near future. T seems to be hopelessly pinned by an apparant AR alliance (YES!), as T&R bumped in Bla this fall. Overall, things seem very even right now. England appears to be on the outs, while I is exhibiting subtle strength. I hope for Charlie's sake that G is trustworthy...

	Support Apolyton or Terrorists Win

OH MY GOD.

Toby Harris (England), who has a reputation as being one of the best in the world at face-to-face Diplomacy, has resigned from the championship game. I'm not joking. The game is currently on hold while they determine his replacement.

I think Charles' chances just got a little better.
