Things have just taken a tremendous downward turn for our Apolyton rep in the WorldMasters99 championship:

Bottom line is, Italy's making movement against Charlie (France) in the south, and Germany just VICIOUSLY stabbed him. That and the fact all of his key units are in a massive attack on England isn't helping matters.

I haven't been in communication with him, but I would like to hear some of Apolyton's Dip experts' generous wisdom as how to save France in this game before I get in contact with him so I have some meaningful info to pass on to him. And please give it quickly: fall turn is due tomorrow.

Okay, Now that I can see the map, I wish that I hadn't! Yikes. This is not good. My advice it to make peace with England. This will require an act of monumental Diplomacy. It looks like Germany and Italy are committed. It'll be very difficult to bereak that alliance now theat they've shown their cards. Can you get Austria or Russia to move on one of them?

Germany doesn't have a commanding edge, though Belgium is likely lost.

Beating a hasty retreat from the assault on England, and guessing right against Italy might just save your bacon. But tactics alone won't do it.

Sorry, it's bleak scenario. I don't have much more that that, and you probably know all this if you made it to the finals.

It occurs to me that if England attacked Hol, then he could retake Belgium with F Eng S A Ruh-Bel, this would of course be in exchange for leaving England alone. He would need to move to MAO with F Iri. His only hope is to outguess Italy. I think that means A Spa-Mar, F Iri-MAO. Even under best case scenario there are no builds for him though He's as doomed as I am...

Good news: One of the championship players has exercised his right to an extension, so we now have another week to figure out how to save Charlie's neck.
I'll be e-mailing him everyone's suggestions tonight and I'll hopefully get some feedback from the game that you guys can percolate.
