Gerwald was 9 minutes late submitting his Fall 1901 orders. Apolyton II's Italy got NMR'd and Tom got kicked out of the game.
I hope that everyone can now understand what the benefit of submitting PRELIMINARY orders is.
Yes, I think what happened to Gerwald is basically BS. But it's also by the book. And when they want to these ****ers can lay down the law. The problem here is that like Florida Democrats the tournament people are not applying the same level of strict evaluation across all games. What's worse here is that the GM in game 2033 (Gerwald's game) allowed two player to delay the game several days in Spring 1901, but couldn't give Tom 9 minutes in Fall 1901.

Appealing to the TD is certainly an option... besides, I wasn't aware that you got kicked for NMRing, only that you were deducted points...

Guys, it gets worse! The GM had the adjucation done and mailed out 15 minutes after the deadline. Something that I feel is rather suspiciously unlikely. It's more likely that he did a preliminary adjucation assuming the NMR from Italy and fired it off immediately after the deadline.
What makes matters worse is that this strict policy is inconsistent with how he dealt with delays in the Spring turn. Are you getting the impression that this guy is a Florida election official yet?
Anyway, I advised Gerwald to appeal to the TD, which he did. A massive debate ensued, with the GM being criticized by many, but in the end Gerwald was kicked out.
And as much as it really sucks, we essentially have no ground to stand on. Once the GM decided to be a di(kh3ad about things, Gerwald was out. Basically the rules state that if you are NMR in the first year that the game is place on hold, and the offending player is removed. The team captain is asked to provide a replacement player. If they cannot provide a replacement, the TD assigns a replacement. That's very likely who this new fellow is.
BTW Team II is still kicking our ass. Team I's Austria (Monk) is down to one SC in 1903. Not good.

Are we still ahead even with the points deduction? Or is that subtracted at the end...?

"Indeed, no NMRs in 1901. And even if Gerwald could be replaced, it would be the team captainīs job to name the replacement. What the hell is going on there? Boshko?"
Basically the GM was a complete ****er
he NMRed people despite it being illegal to NMR people in 1901 and the whole game got generally ****ed up
