Ok..... You need to modify 3 files 1 in your default gamedata folder and 2 in your English(or your launguage of choice) gamedata folder
example: adding a unit
step 1 create your new unit (I'll assume you know how)
step 2 Add your unit to uniticon.txt in default\gamedata (works equally well for advances,buildings,wonders etc).Important any addition MUST have an Icon file..use default if no other is suitable I guess.
Step 3 go to english\gamedata folder open Great_Library.txt add the relevant catergories for your unit.
Step 4 open gl_str.txt file in same folder and give your unit its "screen name"
Very barebones I know...but if you can create units,buildings,advances etc...and add them to the game...you should be able to follow this.
If you can't...well you don't need to add anything to the GL anyways
