Since I've started making CTP maps, I've decided that the original Civ_str.txt is too limited for empires to operate on really huge maps, so I've decided to expand the lists. I saw a string on this earlier, but I can't find it now. I'm assuming it's possible to just extend the lists, and I've already expaned the city names up to 60 names, for the Romans, Greeks, Japanese, and Egyptians. Some civs will be alot more difficult to expand, ie. Canada and the United States will easily have more names than a civ like Kwa-Zulu... However I'm going attempt to expand all the lists. I'd like some help in researching specific Civs for names. I'm a pretty good geographer, but it would be nice for those who know a country to help me in their areas of expertise. Let me know if your interested.

Wes:
I'v completed the list for the Canadians, and the Native Americans. Also on the completed list is Greeks, Americans, English, Japanese (up to 45), Romans, and Egyptians.
All these, except the Japanese are completed up to 60. I have a question though, I've found a civilisation.txt in CTPData\default\gamedata\ does anyone know if this has to corrospond with the Civ.txt? I bet it does, but I'd better ask before I go do extra work.

Wes & Paul, Shame on you! Surely you guys should have remembered all the work Nordicus already did in this area for CtP1. He made a file with something like 60 civs and 50-120 cities for most of them.

Hehe, no problem... I really do have fun doing this kinda stuff. I looked over the FTP, and I have a question? Are those English names for the cities, or Dutch? Anyway, I like what you did for the leaders, and speaking of that I'll say this. In CTP2 the male leader for the Turks, is silly! Uthman I(Osman I) was not a Turk!! (Not in the national sense at least). He was the last of the Ottoman Sultans, it was on his watch that the empire fell! ...not what I'd call a prestigious leader, I've taken the liberty to changing it to Mustafa Kemal "adaTurk"--The father of the Turks, and their first "President" if that's what you want to call him. Also you should expand Ibn Saud's name to the full length (Arabic tradition "Abdul Aziz bin Abdul Rahman Al Saud" hehe, I specialize in Arabic and Russian History Anyway for now I'm going to keep my lists to 60, but for sure I'll expand them soon and you're FTP is save in my "Favorites File".
-Oh, BTW--The Dutch will be complete in about five minuites
-Thanks,
-Eric "Hassan al-Bennaa"

Oh, one more thing, can ya'll tell me how to make the 'tilde's and accent marks... I thought Windows keyboards allowed it, but I can't find the right keys. (It used to be so easy on the Macin'trash, but that's another story)

Unpack the zip and place the included folder to your CtP2 root folder.

Nice, The Czech Republic, would make a very nice addition. BTW, I've finished with Portugal and the Dutch. Thanks to Locutus' lists, of course I made some modifications of my own, but not many.
Thanks you all, this is turning out pretty nice. Soon It'll be ready to post on the site.

Hey all,
Glad to see some Czechs! Prague is one of my favorite cities too. For leader, wouldnt one of the great Czech kings be more appropriate? Like Charles IV? (Karel IV)
But, since my wife is Polish:
Who has noticed that the Polish "letterhead" for the diplomatic proposals is NOT the Red and White of the Polish Eagle but rather the symbol for the SLOVAK REPUBLIC? Nothing against the Slovaks, but I would think that the people at Activision would know the difference?
Cheers,
Elliott

Hi Elliott,
As I see you have a good knowledge of history, bravo.
You're right, Karel IV was one of the greatest man in the Czech history.
He was an Emperor of the Holy Roman Empire.
I've choosen T.G. Masaryk as he was our first president. He estabilished Czechoslovakia (a federation of Czech and Slovak nations) in the year 1918 which was called "the First Republic" that was an extremelly prosperous country (economically, democratically, scientifically, ...).
I was hesitating between those two great man and decided for the second one because T. G. Masaryk has livened the Czech nation after hundreds years lasting Austrian oppression.
Elliott,
I'm really delighted you know the Czechs (probably quite the Czech history as well) and you like us and Prague!
What kind of nationality are you?

Ahoj Luke, (dobry den)
Yes I see your point and Masaryk is perfectly fine to represent the Czech nation as the president of the First Republic. I was just thinking about one of the great Kings since the game starts off at 4000BC.
I'm an American mutt of sorts - part Irish/Scottish and part German. My wife is Polish however and I've spent a great deal of time in Poland and in Czech as well as Slovakia. They are like second homes to me.
I know very well Prague and have many good Czech friends whom I work with (I am a composer so I know many Czech musicians). I also know Olomouc very well and love the Moravian countryside -- I have visited most of Bohemia and Moravia. I will be going back in June for some work with the Moravska Filharmonie Olomouc. Best of all... will get to drink REAL beer (like Pilsner Urquell, etc.).
So, po Polsku:
Pozdrowiam,
Elliott

I tried to keep larger cities, on the list, but order, even on my other lists is elusive, because I don't have the exact (and full) history of the world under my grasp. But since you do know Canada, that's good. Thanks! My biggist complaint about the U.S. List is that Activision, didn't even include Houston... sorry but that's our nations fourth largest city, not to mention home to at least one Ivy League School. Seems these lists were made in a single brainstorming session.
-Note-"backwater"-in this context means cities that are perhaps no more than suburbs... insignifigant on the larger scale. I'd never put "Sugar Land" on my list, even though it's in the second fastest growing county in the U.S. and home of Imperial Cane Sugar and a major suburb of Houston. However, I would have put Lexington on my list, or Concord even tough Surgar Land may be bigger and have more economic Importance, because Lexington and Concord, have historic importance. (These lists shouldn't just reflect the end results). "backwater" has nothing to do with percieved or unpercieved economic, social, and technological development. Secondly, I don't think the average American even "THINKS" of Canada (sorry America!). Fortunatly I do. Otherwise the list would never have been attempted.
-Oh, one more thing, I would argue that the U.S. South has more economic importance by far than the North. Yes the "Yankies" may have New York, but that's a problem run completly out of control.
__________________________________________________
____
If your list is good for a Canadian, then it's good for me. I'll apply to my text soon. Thanks!
-Eric aka "Hassan"
P.S. Did I mention I use the Activision list for the first thirty, I correct order when it's most glairing? So I do recognize the need to review and ammend each of my lists.
