Guys, it'd be great if you joined forces and made a Gran Capitan scenario. This way more people out there could get to know this very brilliant general. I can offer my 'wisdom' in scenario design tricks.

If Shaka is up to it, then I'm in, of course. For the moment, I'll send him some scanned pics and maps, and if he doesn't finally want to make it alone, he knows he can count on me.

hey "Jay Bee," what's goin on, man?

anyhows, here's some ideas:

Spanish
1) A Basque terrorism scenario

Latin America
2) The Drug Wars (i really think this is a great idea for a scenario)
3) The Mexican Civil War
4) The Banana Wars
5) The Pueblo Uprising

Other History
6) I have yet to see a good war of 1812 scenario
7) The Diamond Wars (current, too)
8) Caucasian Wars (perhaps Alex Mor could do this?)
9) The Cold War (object being to prevent war between USSR and USA while each pursues objectives)
10) The Space Race
11) Ancient African Civs

Sci-Fi
12) Terminator (robots v humans)
13) Outer Space (ocean could be space, land could be celestial bodies)

1) I don't think it's a good idea to work with such an actual topic. Many people could feel offended. There is a lot of sensibility in Spain about this (recently, a TV director has been fired because he authorised a report about it that was considered too "no-beligerant" with the terrorism.

2) There is already at least a scenario about Cold War: "Cold War X", by Jason Molthan, it's in the Civilization Scenario Collection (http://csc.apolyton.net)

8) Caucasian Wars (perhaps Alex Mor could do this?)

Alex Mor has abandoned Civ2 temporarily, it is doubtful that he will ever return. However, I have been thinking about doing something like that, about the Russian-Persian struggle for the Caucasus between ca. 1780 and 1920. but I lack detailed sources (as a matter of fact, I have an excellent map and one 495-page book about the history of the Islamic states between 622 and 1939 -the book is from 1941 so I don't know how trustable- and I don't know how detailed the info is). It is a very provocative idea, and I'm seriously thinking about it.

It's a very good one too, though with minor historical flaws.

Put an end to popups!

Hey, Stefan, if you're interested in doing a Philippines scenario, I have plenty of info for you, plus I had already made an extremely accurate map of the Philippines. I think it would be cool to do a scenario that started with the Spanish-American War and then do a Philippine Insurrection in the same scen.

One scenario that could be done that would be really creative would be a Polar Exploration scenario. There would be a few civilizations, and they would all have to compete to take a city on the poles, and you could have like "natural disaster" units, such as snow storms and stuff like that. I think that would be a fun scenario.

I think that there are three or four scenarios about the Wars in North-East Europe in the XVII-XVIII centuries, aren´t there, Henrik ?

Lose 30 kilos (of popups)

Oh, I don't know... I'm busy with doing some other scens already, so I can't even tell when to start it. It won't harm sending me the info however, since cpoulos and kIndal have already sent me a lot of very good stuff about this topic. My eMail's in the profile.

If you actually are ready to wait a while for it however, I'd consider doing that.

[*] Lake Taha (northern Ethiopia) as southwestern corner
[*] Lake Ohrid (Border between Albania and FYROM) as northwestern Corner
[*] Lake Balchash (Eastern Kazakhstan) as northeastern corner

That should be enough. Try to keep it in these borders, if it is a bit larger that is OK too, just try not to include Italy, the Ukraine and Ahmedabad, that would be too far. Try to make it as large as possible, I'd like to be able to have three entire city radii in Mainland Greece.
Thanks a lot!!!!!!!

For mainland you mean classic Greece, Stefan, right? That means from 10 to 15 squares from Pelopponnesus to northern Beothia-southern Thessalia... consider this done in three days.

PS Since i don't know where cities are going to be placed, I'm not going to place forests or jungles in this map.

PPS Check out GS thread about "Alexander the Young" scen... really a well done scenario!

OK, I will care about that. But, as I told you, try to make it go a little further to the east.

Already downloaded it-will try it!

quote:

There really wasn't much action there during Alexander's campaign. OK, the battle of Granicus, the sieges of Miletus and Halicarnassus, the war between Sparta and the Corinthian League and the persian operations in the eastern Aegean, but these are actually things that can be represented in a little area. Besides, they all happened between Spring 334 (begin of campaign) and 333 (death of Memnon), and if you look at what happened further in the east... I was rather considering the city production especially in Thessaly and Macedonia, because these were the areas from where the Macedonians received regular backup forces.

quote:

Thanks

quote:

Originally, I thought about using multiple rules-files, but I dropped that... about the other ideas: Wait and see

quote:

I think that it is a hard scenario to make

Well... not really. It depends on how close to history you want it to be. Of course, I'll try to somehow let it follow the historic course - this can be done by some simple tricks. I will also try to make it so, that the player is in several occasions forced to follow Alexander's course. It simply is no fun if you give up after not being able to take Tyrus, and then just conquer Mesopotamia! You'll have to take it. I suppose this scenario will be a whole lot different from my previous ones.
