Got spare money?

Important! It seems the protagonists are the Spanish, not the Brits. That means it is kindal, not cpoulos who has to start!

Help yourself to an AD-FREE life

I just launched a single player game as the spanish and when I did that the english got to move before me.
After this the turn order proceded as normal.
As I said before the pratagonist thing doesnt matter.

Based on what you said, Henrik, and what I myself tried several times, I too think that England moves first. No one else moved before I did. I won't open a new thread untill you guys say what you want to do: Restart, or go with the game I started already. I have my notes for the first posting, so I will wait a bit to hear what you guys think before posting it.

Browse Apolyton AD-FREE

Its really easy to check, create a new pbem as the spanish, save and load as the english or futch or frech, etc (that acording to turn order should have moved) and see if any units has the go order.

Is there a unit in the top right corner of the intro.text? If so, the protagonist civ is always the first to move. Thus, if the English are not the protagonists, they will not be the first to move.

If there's no unit in the intro.txt, the scenario beginning was not correctly designed and thus the first civ to move would be the one that was blinking at the time John created the .scn file. That could well be the English.

(I am not sure if I made myself clear on this...)

That's as clear as mud. Let's assume ol' Chris knows absolute zero about scenario design (An accurate assumption), and Jay Bee knows a lot about it (another accurate assumption), so could Jay Bee please load the scenario and help this poor old ignorant fool find out What the hell the first player is?!!? If you don't mind.

There is no unit in the intro text, so that settles it.
Still the
quote:

"was not correctly designed"
is a bit harsh, I dont agree about that, if you want a unit in the intro text then you lett the pratagonist move on the first turn, but that is not allways what you want to achieve.
Say I dont want a unit displayed or I dont want the pratagonists to move on the first turn, in both these cases I would let a civ other than the pratagonist start.
Just beocuse the unit in the intro text feature hasnt been used doesnt mean that the scenario is "incorectly designed".
Thar (imho) was an unfair remark (and als totaly uncalled for).

Suffering from ads?

Come on Henrik lighten up! You have quoted completely out of context and thus have misunderstood. It was simply a casual remark and it referred to the beginning of the scenario, not to the whole scenario as you seemed to have interpreted. John is a friend of mine and I helped him out with this, just as he has helped me with other things. See my name on the title.gif? Let me tell you as well that I consider John to be one of the best designers by far. So, see? There was no harshness at all. Not a single bit.

However you look at it, not to have the protagonist start the scenario is a design mistake. Aesthetical considerations apart, the best proof that I am right is this thread.

Just to settle this let me change the 'not correctly designed' by 'not designed by the book'. Does this sound better?

Getting back on topic, yes, the prots are the Spanish but the starters are the English, so it is Chris who has to start.
