1940 - War preparations

I concentrate forces for attacking Portugal (offensive is planned in Spring 1941).

Foreign events:
Allies and France have lost continental battles in West Europe. French front is collapsing. BEF has hold tightly but is also going to be excluded from the continent.
In other parts of Europe there are little events: stalemate in North Africa, Greece took Albania from Italy and British still manage to hold Narvik in Norway.

1941 - Battle for Portugal

I started war with Minor Nations in March and conquered all Portugal in the same month. Ponta Delgada was taken in April. Casualities: 2 Light tanks.
Then I concentrated all my armor and planes to Tangiers in preparation to attack French North Africa.

Foreign events:
Axis attacked Jugoslavia in April and Soviet Union in June. Jugoslavians managed to defened Beograd and Zagreb. Against Russia Germany was successful only in Central front (reached to Riga-Vilnius-Pinsk line).
In Western Front Allies have got upper hand. They liberated Paris and most coastal cities. Also United States entered to the war in December.
In North Africa there are indecisive battles in Cyrenaica and Egypt.

1942 - Battle for French North Africa

I started war with France in April and conquered Rabat and Casablanca in the same turn. By July all big coastal cities of French North Africa are conquered and Spanish army reach to the border of German occupied Tunesia.
In August I started offensive against French mainland and captured Bordeaux. Battle for Toulouse was great failure. I lost 3 Light tanks, Panzer II and bomber and emptied the city. But I wasn't able to capture it and next turn Germans took the city and after that British took it from Germans. It was big loss because Toulouse has good production and strategic location.

Foreign events:
Jugoslavia was wiped out by Axis in February. Axis also recaptured Albania and hold Allies in Greece under strong pressure.
In East Front Russians pushed back and restored mostly pre-war frontier. Only Brest-Litovsk, Lvov and Rovno remained to German hands.
West Front was dominated by Allies who liberated most cities in East France. Reims, Besancon and Metz were all French cities which Germans had in the end of year.
In North Africa the front moved forward and back and ended in the same place where it was in the beginning of war.

1943 - Slow offensive

In March I renewed my offensive and took Marseille after heavy battle. Then I transferred my light tanks to western coast and took Limoges in June, Orleans in July and Cherbourg in October. Brest is the only French mainland city remained and I plan to make descent and capture it in January/February 1944.

Conquest of French inland cities in Africa is slow and frustrating. There are no road connections and my tanks are under attacks of French bombers.

In 1944 I plan to concentrate my armies to South France and Tunisia and start war with Axis.

Foreign events:
In Eastern Front was stalemate during most of the year. Still Germans pushed in central front and took Vilnius and Pinsk. Soviets bombed and captured Helsinki.
In North Africa British took most of Cyrenaica. They also made descents to Sicily and Norway.
Allies were successful in northern part of West front where they control all German coastline. Germans on the other hand made counterattacks and captured cities in East and South France.

Yes, over time I try to play all nations and add game descriptions to the TSFE webpage.

If you play TSFE as small nation, then big nations (Allies, Axis and Russia) only get units via events but aren't directed by any other way. So everything is possible.

1944 - Spanish Enter to the Main Stage

In March I took last French mainland city Brest and in May last African city Fes. The war with France is now temporarily over because French Syria is unreachable yet.

In April war with Axis started. It was non-stop advance in first months which culminated in July when both Milano and Tripoli fell. South-East France, Sardinia, Corsica and Tunesia were taken before.

In August I lost first cities in this game: German Panzers took Marrakech in Africa and Besancon in France. Besancon was later retaken but situation in North-West Africa is real headache. There are several strong German units wandering around and threatening my cities. I try to contain them with bombers.

In June I discovered Mobile Warfare III which let me build Panzer IV tanks.
In November I opened negotiations with Minor Nations and signed cease fire.

By the end of year Tripolitania, Messina in Sicily and most of Italy (except Rome, Tarranto and Trieste) were under Spanish rule. In 1945 I plan finish with Italy and invade to Balkans.

Foreign events:
East Front was mostly stabil. Soviet Union invaded into Finland and Rumenia and in Byelorussia there were big indecisive tank battles.
Nothing happened in Balkans and Cyrenaica.
In West Front Allies advanced deeply into North-West Germany and started attacking outer defences of Berlin.
In November Allies and Minor Nations started war against Russians and Minor Nations went to war against Axis too.
In April Allies discovered Nuclear Weapons and in May they did Nuclear Test.



Spanish is now as important power in Europe as are Allies, Axis or Soviet Union.

I see that the allies do pretty well against the Axis, are the axis also able to capture any British city in the island or to conquer Moscow??


I played as Spain in the original WWII scenario,
in the year 1970 I was going to launch an offensive against the Russians, everybody else in the map was already conquered, I was too bored and I never finished the game

Everything depends on what nation you are playing.
If you chose to play as Allies then Axis will try to bomb you to dust and then execute Sealion. Also Rommel in Africa is very hard to stop.

I you play as Soviet Union, German armies reach to Moscow for sure. Nobody has managed yet to beat German invasion in hard or medium level (the scenario has 3 difficulty levels).

But if you play as small nation, it is more like a bloodlust: all nations are left for their own and all kind of results can happen.

1945 - Battle for Italy

By Spring Axis had only Rome and Tarranto left in Italy. As these cities were under attack of Allied bombers, I decided to leave them to my upcoming reinforcements and directed my main forces to conquest of Jugoslavia.

In Summer Axis made offensive against my Italian possessions.
It started in April when Panthers took Pisa. Next month Napoli fell.
Until it I didn't worry about the situation but now I brought my main tank army which was advancing in Jugoslavia back to Northern Italy.
In June I started offensive against Rome and took Tarranto. Rome fell after costly battle in July. Allied descent took Napoli.
But in July German armies suddenly struck from north and east. Milano, Verona, Zagreb and Rijeka were under attack. Rijeka fell in same month, Zagreb and Trieste in August and Verona and Venezia in September. Also Germany bombed my tank army near Rome with V2 rockets.



In October I made couterattack and recaptured Pisa and Verona. Allies captured Venezia.

Also in October my tank army took Marrakech, last Axis city in Africa.

In February I signed cease fire with France and in April war with Minor Nations started again.
In 1946 I plan make second attempt to invade into Balkans.

Foreign events:
In East front Russians started invading into Axis territory in broad front.
In Balkans Allied took all South Greece and Minor Nations North Greece and Albania.
Intensive battles between Russians and Allies+Minor Nations in North-Eastern part of Turkey.
In West front Axis pushed Allies out from most of Germany. Minor Nations occupied Denmark. Allied had successes in Norway.

1946 - Battle for Jugoslavia

In April I started my Summer Offensive in Jugoslavia. By June all Jugoslavia except Belgrade was conquered. German counterattacks against Zagreb and Split were repulsed.
In July Germans made strong counterattack with tanks, infantry and planes, destroyed half of my tank army operating in Jugoslavia and took Sarajevo. I was forced to stay defensive.



In October I renewed my offensive and took Sarajevo, Beograde and Craiova.
In 1947 I plan to make descent to Ireland and push Axis and Minor Nations out from Balkans.
As scenario ended in December 1946, I got score 573 (Civ rating 74 %) with population 39,66 millions. As I had only to defend my original borders it can be regarded as Major Victory.

Foreign events:
In East Front Axis restored his prewar frontier except Rumania where he had only Bucarest and Finland where he controled Lapland. Minor Nations occupied most of Finland.
In Balkans the main event was Spanish invasion.
In Middle-East Front there were no changes.
In West Front Axis restored also his pre-war fontier except Denmark which is under Minor Nations.

In my game as Sweden I felt myself like Iraq in Gulf War. I shall write story about it too. But after Spanish game I shall start game as Soviets.

1947 - Balkans and Turkey

Spanish campaign in 1947 has 3 phases.
The first operation started in March and was against Axis positions in Balkans. By April I had captured Oradrea, Bucaresti and Sofia. Spanish and Soviet armies have direct contact now. I signed cease fire with Axis and concentrated to war against Minor Nations.

In March I had made descent to Ireland and in April it was conquered.
In May I Spanish armies started second operation in Balkans and took Tirana, Thessalonike and destroyed Varna - Minor Nations are now excluded from Balkans.
In August started third phase of the campaign: invasion to Turkey. I made descent from Greece and captured Canakkale, Izmir, Antalya and Adana by the end of the year. French fleet in Egeus sea caused serious problems, sinking two transports, but was destroyed by my cruisers and air forces.
In 1948 I plan finish with Turkey and French Syria and bring then armies back to Europe, against Germany.

Foreign events:
German and Soviet forces have now contact only in Polish region. There were heavy battles around Königsberg, Warszawa and Krakow. All these cities remained to Axis hands in the end of the year.
In Finland intensive fighting between Minor Nations and Russians.
In Middle-East front and Norway no changes.
In West front Germany pushed Allies slowly back and took Amsterdam, Arnhem and Brussel.

1948 - Nuclear War is Started

In January Ankara fell. In March Spanish army took Istanbul. In June last Turkish city Trabzon fell.
In April I started offensive against French Syria. In May Damascus fell but all my invading army was destroyed by French planes after it. Still in August Beirout fell and France is no more.

The bulk of Spanish army is already in Balkans and wait only a signal to start offensive against Budapest. But signal doesn't come. Spanish reputation is already "honorable" and breaking cease fire with Germans make it worse and can trigger Russians and Allies declare war to me. Instead Spanish light tank sits just next to Budapest in German territory and tries to provoke Germans to attack. They don't. Offensive is postponed to Spring 1949. Spanish military strenghth is increasing all the time.

But...
In November 1948 Germany broke the cease fire and Nuclear Bomb was used the first time in European history.
They drop it to Oradrea where was half of my tank army and then occupied the city with paratroopers.



In November I launched offensive with remaining tanks and captured Budapest and Krakow.
In 1949 I plan start offensive toward Berlin.

Foreign events:
In East front no changes. Still Germans seem to have initiative there.
Allies managed to capture Tbilisi.
In West front German advance toward Paris continues.
