GOOD NEWS from Paradox about EU Tired of ads?

Dear Europa Universalis player,

We are pleasantly surprised that our membership list has grown so fast
and is approaching 3,000 people. You are many out there who have been
and are still contributing to spreading the popularity of the game and
we wanted to share some news about our plans for it those most
dedicated.

But first let us extend a THANK YOU ALL. The game has a growing
popularity (to those who wonder; yes it is selling well!) which is
spreading from country to country even before our release in the local
territories. A lot can be contributed to the uniqueness in deep local
history portrayed on a global scale in the game but your contribution
has helped us (and still help us) to build EU into what will hopefully
become an established classic.

We are a small company and have limited resources. Your enthusiasm has
provided excellent reviews, awards, and online attention otherwise
impossible. Your AAR´s serve as great advertisements for the game. We
have found local publishing partners and distributors because many of
you have written and spoken very highly of the game to the trade.
Newcomers overwhelmed by the information overload have been helped on
the forums by you guys to help up until we can update the official
materials. In short, you have been great and we are deeply grateful.

Now to the goodies. Will there be a sequel? Will we have add-on packs?
Will we make other historical games based on the game engine? The answer
to all questions is YES!

Many of you are wondering if there will be an EU 2. It is a little early
to tell for sure, but we are certainly discussing internally how it
could be designed, and what is should achieve. We can say that it will
be a very ambitious project because we will set up very high goals.
(That sounds like a quote we made four or five years ago starting work
on EU

There are many ways we can expand the current game and improve certain
features. We keep resources tied to do this and will hopefully announce
a project searching beta testers in the summer.

And we are pleased to let you know we have decided to make another game
based on the engine! We have our preliminary design ideas, and
historical period, but again we do not wish to announce as of yet what
exactly the game will portray. What we do want however is to go to the
web forum and participate in our poll of what historical theme YOU would
like to see on a similar scope as EU! The poll will be up later today.

Happy gaming to you all!

On another note, Patric popped on to the EU general forum to announce that a totally new scenario and some other goodies would be appearing in their download section. In fact he said they had appeared, but his post appears to have jumped the gun because we can't see them yet

Happy Easter everyone!!

Looks like the Roman era is leading in the poll though.

Eitherway, I think we'll probably see both in the next few years.

Support Apolyton or Terrorists Win

Ugh... if they came out with a 500-1000 game, I don't think I'd buy it. Have no interest in that time period.

Avatar Enlargement: We've got the solution

I think it is crucial that number of states/territories stays big ... nothing after 1870 would be same fun (no more minor states) and the earlier then 1500 period requires a strech of facts and imagination to represent the territories that existed then as centralised "states" ...

I voted Great Wars 1900-1950 (not sure of exact period). I dont see any way current engine could work with WWII, but hey
