Why would a good trader have exp > 1000? Help yourself to an AD-FREE life

Or, for that matter, would they even care about exp? Aside from
showing everyone else how good you are, that is. =)

With all of the *intrigue* going around the game, I want to remove
myself from everyone's radar. I am no longer attacking players
(except for my deal with mudd to get the ISS), and don't want to
get on anyone's hit list.

I just enjoy flying around and trading...

Does the extra exp get me better prices or help me to get better
margins while trading? Does it make my combat odds better vs.
aliens and the Ferrengi?

Your right Burbel, As far as I can see it, with high experience points, you "move to the head of the class"...and into Apolyton Corporation's battle sights! Just ask Hutak. (that good v. evil thing is just a ruse as far as I'm concerned ).

Browse Apolyton AD-FREE

I think you are correct Burbel. Exp helps tons for evil but for you "good" players, there is no benifit. Does it really matter though? If you are still hiding out in FedSpace with <100 figs and you have an ISS thats pretty sad.

Burbel, you are not doing the galaxy a favor by staying independent. Join one of the other "good" corps and help us bring down Apolyton.

You people do realize that Hutak is doing just fine? He just leaves around his merchant frieghters since its not worth the turns to drag them around the galaxy. Apolyton claims victory after destroying these derelict vessels...

of course hutak is doing fine... his corp. is the top, and he likely has a lot of cash - most likely the richest blood in the galaxy. How is he planning to win tho? Once apolyton has their citadel finished and starts raking in millions from planets, the balance will change. Ap.co. is still the one to beat.

Suffering from ads?

You may not intentionally pump up your exp, but from my experience I've noticed that it just starts going up after some time because of the normal things you do when playing the game. Fighting battles, making planets etc. There is no real use for it, its just a measure for others to have an estimate of your strength. But yes it is a bad estimation.

Does anybody know if experience helps a good trader to get better deals or fight better?

Avatar Enlargement: We've got the solution

I think it affects the starting price you are offered when trading. Higher experience gives higher initial offer. I'm not positive about this, though. The memory is a little foggy.

Thanks for all of the information here.

I think I will take it upon myself to *lower* my experience as much as possible, and remove myself from the rank of "contender" to the rank of
"something more than nothing".

Ouch. They mention expensive ways to drop your experience -- doesn't walking around the stardock also get your experience dropped, if you wander in general (and with your credits in the bank, of course). Or does that just get you killed?

You can also drop half your experience per day, if you're not too high alignment yet, guessing the underground password wrong. Make sure you're carrying no money and guess wrong until you lose half your experience. DO NOT GUESS WRONG AGAIN BEFORE THE NEXT TIME EXTERN RUNS (usually midnight-5am or thereabouts) or you will be killed, lose your ship, and reset to 0 exp and 0 align. Not sure, but you may lose what's in your bank account, too.

This is a big reason why in my edited game I have upper level imperial ships which require experience to use. Stops multicorping, gives blues the same incentive as reds to gain experience, it makes for an all-around better game IMHO.

BTW - you have to guess it wrong 3 times - the first time, they tell you to get lost, second time, they beat you up, third time, they beat you up, take your money, and half your experience. You can't do this after you have earned your commission, for the obvious reason that they bolt the doors and batten down the hatches as soon as they see you coming

Actually it's more than three times. You can go three or four times before they beat you up the first time. And the FIRST time they beat you up, they take half your money. The second time they take ALL your money plus half your XP. So make sure you bank all the cash you have (or citadel it if it's too much, or just SPEND it first).

As for being able to guess wrong more than once without getting anything taken from you, yes. For the rest, I'm just going by what I've seen elsewhere...
