Hey gang sorry I've been away but can you help me understand this really weird email I got about EyesofNight who I considur to be the best of the best and a personel menter! Here it is!
To the friends of "EyesofNight":
Greetings, in case you have not heard, your friend Sean has been going through a very difficult time these last few months. We know that many of you have been trying to contact Sean by email and by ICQ. Sean's school (Florida has been wonderful to your friend) was kind enough to provide me with a list of people who care about the his well-being. I trust you will will pass this along to the rest of your internet community.
Sean has been unable to contact any of you because he was recently diagnosed with severe Adolescent Onset Autism (AOA). This is a serious mental illness that usually strikes men in their late teens or early twenties. Unfortunately, medical science knows very little about what causes this debilitating condition. Although there were no previous indications of AOA, we were fearful for some time that this may strike Sean because there is a history of this illness in his family. The cause of autism is still unknown. Some research suggests that it may stem from physical problem affecting those parts of the brain that process language and information coming in from the senses. There may be some imbalance of certain chemicals in the brain. Genetic factors may sometimes be involved. AOA may indeed result from a combination of several "causes".
Sean was diagnosed with this condition in May of this year. Since May his condition has gradually eroded. Over the last few months we have watched him withdraw from his family, friends and coworkers. Please do not feel that Sean has been avoiding or ignoring you. At first he was too embarrassed to share his problem with you, now as his condition has deteriorated, "normal" human interaction is nearly impossible for him. Sean is now considered capable of "medium-functioning". This means that while he can do a lot of things for himself (eating, dressing, simple tasks), he cannot hold a job, drive a car, or handle the responsibilities involved with living alone. With the help of medication and intensive therapy we are hopeful that Sean will someday be capable of "high-level functioning".
We have been working with Sean every day to try to help him regain at least part of what was a very active life. I first met "EyesofNight" a few months ago, misplaced by a psychiatrist in a class for low-functioning autistic men. At some time or another during the past few months Sean has exhibited just about every behavior in the autism diagnostics. He still shows many of them today. He is intelligent but recently his perception was significantly fragmented. His personality is beginning to re-cohere, for want of a better word. He can speak, although he only does so when absolutely necessary and hardly ever in full sentences. He prefers to communicate using body language, gestures, signing or short phrases often beginning with the word "more". A typical phrase would be "more now, must water Bill" He understands most things said to him, provided that he's aware that someone's speaking to or about him.
He is an astute and determined manipulator who has known a great deal of fear and is consequently almost immune to my threats. He is not frightened so much as depressed these days. I'm part of a small team which includes teachers, psychologists and his mother dedicated to making him more self-sufficient, giving him some reason for optimism and as much emotional support as he needs, which we hope will lead to his functioning at optimum levels within a few years.
With people he trusts, Sean can be charming and pleasant company. He has a wonderful roguish grin. Right now, however, it's not seen very often. I'm hoping to have a series of pictures to follow this message, the photos are all taken within the space of five minutes, and begin with Sean hiding behind his shoes to indicate his absolute reluctance to participate, and gradually coming further out after each picture until he's fully at ease in front of the camera. In the process, he demonstrates classic autistic behavior. I have a lot of good photos of Sean, each of which illustrate many aspects of his autism.
Sean doesn't care much about social norms and enjoys discomfiting those who have charge of him by behaving in ways they would consider embarrassing. It takes a thick skin or the same autistic unconcern for neurotypicals' attitudes as Sean to take him out in public these days.
In one of the pictures, Sean has just come inside after ducking his head into a sandy puddle: if you look closely, you can see the sand running down his face and neck.
And why not? It felt good to have the cold water on his face and running down his neck, and who cares about a bit of sand? And, after all, if someone wanted to dry and clean him they were welcome to try; he was just as happy left alone and might decide to bite or pinch anyone approaching him with a towel, not aggressively but just as a reminder that his ways aren't necessarily theirs.
Sean has very poor eyesight but acutely sensitive hearing over a range of frequencies barely audible to neurotypical people. For example, he finds some of the sounds associated with diesel engines almost intolerable and the sound of a truck laboring up a hill in too high a gear was likely until recently to cause him to tantrum and even today, if somebody he doesn't know and/or doesn't like were to have charge of him, he still could. Another picture I have, taken on the roof of a shopping mall, shows how he copes with the noise of cars coming up the ramps. He covers his ears and screams to show his discomfort. Recently he coped with a noisy situation in a food hall in much the same way.
Sean is no longer living in Washington DC. His family has sent him to the Ottowa Valley Autistic Home in Ontario, Canada. Here he has undergone 3 months of intensive treatment and therapy. We are hoping that sometime in the next few months Sean will be able to regain at least a small part of his once vibrant personality.
Now you are probably wondering what you can do to help "EyesofNight". For the moment there is really nothing that you can do. He is still having trouble adjusting to the presence of his immediate family. You must understand that he has withdrawn from the outside world. Just know that deep down, buried under a mass of fear and anxiety, Sean appreciates your friendship. All that his family asks is that you pray for him. He is receiving the best possible care. Another message with picutres will follow in the next few days.

Well geez Bo Ann I'm really sorry that I'm the only civer with the guts to come on these here boards to tell it like it is! You should be ashamed! We should all rush to help the poor dabilitated man EyesofNight in his time of need like George Dubya Bush and compassionate conservatism would! And you can't do nothing but flamme away personally! Its typacal of what has happened to this once-proud inter net site!
So please put away you're smoking guns and lets cheer for EyesofNight to make a full and complete recovery!

well i dont think this tale is to far fetched, ive known this egotistical ******* for a little over two years . i have no kind words for him even though i am a very nice person. he has done nothing but antagonize and deface every civ player that there is except for maybe kaak but im sure kaak has had his words with him at some time. what is ironic is that civ retard would post this here , he must not know the history of eyes of night. if there was a form of cheating eyes did it. if there was a bug in the game eyes did it. if there was something stupid to say about absoultly nothing eyes said it. personally i could care less what happens to him, all of that fake civ god wannabe crap finally got to him and it serves him right. this isnt a place for attention, this isnt a place for cheating of your fellow man. to me this is a place of discussing that game that we love to play. i see no reason to go through any trouble just to be the best, and thats exactly what eyes did was try to be the best but instead of doing it rightously he used a machivelli form of the word best, he desrves no sympathy. when he first came out with his mental breakdown awhile back he then tried to cover it up saying it was all a prank to make us beleive one thing and to play us all for fools. i for one aint no fool and the only one he was really fooling was himself. i would like to think this szicophrenic could change for the better but through all of his name changes he came to me everytime and tried to get under my skin and each time i sniffed out a rat and brought forth that demon eyes of night. now either i wedged myself into his brain so far that he couldnt pull out the thorn or he was just like this to everyone. i never tested that beacause i have had the same name ever since i have started playing this game but im sure others of you know how he really is. every conversation i had with this eyes of night was one trying to deface my person so i used a method of self defense which i will not describe here for risk of being sued for the cause of his insanity. but like i said above. i have no kind words for him, i dont not wish him recovery, and i definatly do not wish him good luck. as far as medical advice for him and his doctors i would say take this virtual world away from him. i have seen his mental state go down the drain and i think trying to make a fake persona here has caused that and now he has become one with it. if anything his virtual world is bringing him further away from the real world as described in the essay. if any of you are wondering why i know so much it beacause my friends cousin is a full blown scizophrenic and i had to hang out with him for about 4 months.
oh if this is some kind fo sick joke, which it could possibly be, eyes goes down ten more notchs in my list of pathetic people

I feel sorry for the morons who thought this might be true (Mokerguy, you demonstrated what I thought all along). First of all, amazing that only one person got this email and that was civretard. Number 2, he says I was diagnosed with this in May of this year and then goes on to say "since May", obviously not professionaly written. Also, I'm not from D.C. you moron, and why in the hell would I then go to a Canadian clinic? Doesn't make much sense. Also, Autisim is where an individual crawls almost into their own little world. There is no such thing as AOA, most people are born with autism and I don't think I've ever heard of someone "developing" it. "He is an astute and determined manipulator"...Is this in your expert opinion? lol By the way, just what is a manipulator? Also, a doctor would not go onto a chat room on the internet and begin telling everyone about the patient's condition. It's a violation of patient confidentiallity. ANd lets not even get started on the fact that my linguistics don't even come close to that of someone with autisim. I could go on and on, but there's so much it would take a few pages. I feel sorry for anyone stupid enough to think it might be true....Mokerboy. I guess that's why you're a carpenter.

EyesofNite I cannot believe that you are up and about and making postings in you're terribul condition! It just shows you're amazing devotion to the game of Civ II that you can play it and talk about it even though you have contractad adolascent on set awtism! Whatever that is! So get back to bed! And drink plenty of fluads!

Ok, enough already. this thread is obviously SPAM. i dont know much about apolyton guidelines, but in civ fanatics you can not attack 1 person, you can not have a 1on1 conversation in the forums.
Sure, this was highly funny at the start, but right after the first post, it became only offensive towards 1 person. If this is normal in apolyton, i stand corrected, but i think this topic should be closed.
