...who will get PCRs and learn that the two aspects (titles and bannings) work together to form a stable board where people with higher status are to be admired and aspired to. an example of how commitment and long-standing posting can reap rewards (I do not include certain OT posters in that statement, I meant predominantly the actual Civ boards. That is why the decision to cut the OT post-count was good. )
I would like to see the OT have a separate post-count, maybe even be an Apolyton hosted site. (ACOL isnt really a SMAC site anymore is it?) Then the OT count would count, but only "over there." In the Apolyton CS boards, there would be a realistic count for how much you post about Civ.

Oh no!

How would you work a "Shah", "Tsar" or "President"?
If you included them with "king" or "prince" titles, then you'd have to make then above or below each other, then you'd have complaints that "Tsar should by rights be above king " etc. You need (if you're going to have at all) a single heirachy. The Euro-centric one is good, as it is the best-know feudal system. I'm sure they could implement an Indian caste-style heirarchy, but who'd understand ?
Cheiftain and Warlord and Deity are sexless, and there are both Princesses and Queens at Apolyton. The fact that there are very few females here anyway means that it isn't a big issue, ladies can ask Mark to give them a female title
So is Communism, which is the result of making everyone "citizen".
A democratic board would be "President" (10000+), "Senator" (3000+), "Consul" (1000+), "Tribune" (300+), "voter" ( < 300)

Even without the post count in the OT forums?
If people have actually come here for Civ, then the OT will only appeal after they've been here for a while, and got a few posts anyway.

the PCDM- make everyone a citizen. Equal rights for all! I don't consider some of those "Deitys" to be deserving of their title, and I'll bet a good chunk of the forum doesn't either. |
Deities are:
Imram S
Mao
Ming
Ming has been a damn good moderator for a long time, and certainly deserves his title. Imram I have not seen spam for at least as long as I've posted here, and I lurked for longer.
Mao I believe used to spam, but hardly ever posts anymore, and never flaunts his deity status. (I think) When AH gets to Deity, I may reverse my decision , but he too has posted long and hard, humorously, trollingly (also humorous) and even in serious debates to get to the post count he has today, and I think that anyone who has made the effort, even if a large proportion of the posts were:

deserves the title, just to show how little life they have in the real world.
Maybe a postcount/time registered would give a suitable figure, so the quicker you post, the more likely you are to be a spammer, and so the titles become a measure of spam, rather than posts.
I think the democratisation of post-counts would be nice, but the present system (at least on-topic) works fine.
