I agree with you, but I post all of the science and advances from each person don't you think that woulget too long?! or do you mean what they were currently researching at the end of the game. Oh, what settings do you think would be good for everyone to play on for psoting? It would be best if everybody starts out on the same level so that the scores aren't weighted to those who played on easy

BerXpert,

I sure did not win with that score of 5690 I came in last I already e-mailed Rhuarc before I found this string. I was playing hard level with Barbs on roving hords. I got to Explosives when the game ended. I tried to build to many city improvments and not enough troups. The barbs took out 4 of the 8 cives for me.

I like the idea of a set standerd of play, We can see who is the beat.

what do you guys think would be a good game setup for everybody to play with? I was thinking very hard with barbarians on the highest level, and 8 civs. This SHOULD be hard enough that it takes people a while to win, what do you think? I just hope there are enough people interested in this!! I'll set up the scoring form on my web page tonight. Thanks for the ideas! And if anybody wants to help out just holler at me!

Also, should we say play with or without the medmod? I would be for playing with it, but some people might not want to install the mod, so it is ok with me if you want to use the regular version. I have both, so whichever will work.

I have played three games so far, I lost the last two when my slaves revolted. first time I only had the milita in my city The next time I had three units but when you start to wipe out civs you collect alout of slaves. good for production but need to many units to keep them under control.

With Barbs on ranging hords you only have to worrie about 3 other civs to win. But while you are looking for those civs you must watch out for large armies of Barbs. They always seem to have the up to date units.

this is a great game I won't post my scores they were lower then the one I already posted

I would have to vote for medmod, I have lost files and can't get the game to run in normal. I don't think it would make that big a difference in ether game both sides will have the same units. In medmod you just have a larger selection to choose from but also to face.
Sure could use spell check

Anyone who wishes to compete against others in the One City Challenge, play either version, on Very Hard, with 8 civs, and Barbarians on the hardest setting. Map should be Normal size. (I don't remember what the exact names of th sizes are!! If someone finds that this is too easy we can up the map size one notch.) When you finish either post your scores here, or email them to me at wendell777@hotmail.com. Good luck, and believe me, you are going to need it!!!

When posting scores please include, score, science you were researching at end of game, amount of gold you had, the date it ended, and the reason it ended (killed, gaia controller, conquest, etc...) Thanks!

Preacherman, I still need some of this info from you. Thanks man!

Got spare money?

The weekend finished and I can't complete my game. Maybe the next weekend or some free time in this days.

Here a resume of my actual stage:

Year: 1700
Science: Democracy just discovered and switching into. Cannion making on the way
Gold: 9700
Wonders: Piramids, Great Wall, Galileo Telescope
Position: The last

Any suggestions to continue the game, I try to start the war with germans (the worst civ up to me) but they have better units. Do you think democracy is a good choice?

I was thinkinh about discover the Nukes and start a nuclear war, 'coz the barbarians have not capture any civ, so the 8 civs are still playing.

Congratulations to my self!

Finally I just ended it!!!

Very Hard, with 8 civs, and Barbarians on the hardest level

Score: 11375
Gold: 784,481 (i got 1'500,000 but I buy some wonders)
Science: Last discoverd Digital Encryption, next robotics 30 turns
Wonder: Last build Data Heaven
Position: Me 6th, Irish 7th, Germans 8th
Date end: 2300
Reason: Humanity choose a leader at the begining of the XXIV century who will reign the earth due his leadership (ME )

In the last 20 years I send some nukes to the Irish and capture it with an helicopter and a pickmen and they finish with 1 city. So I think that the AWESOME victory can be reached killing every one. I will try it next weekend.

Yes, Rhuarc I will update, but I can't be constantly changing the game, so I wanted to wait 'til Wes had absolutely finished it. I think he has pretty nearly done all the files the scenario affects, so I will do another version (bug-free this time) soon

Maybe I should start a separate thread for this, but I see no need, all OCC players will find this eventually.

I HAVE COMPLETED THE MM2-OCC!!

If this goes to the database, they always quote from my post, and it always sounds lame, so this has to be a "soundbite".

The MedPack version of the OCC scenario for CTP2 is finished, and I'm sure it will be a real challenge. Just like the original, there is no way for the human to get more than one city, and the aim is to win. Surviving to 2300AD is good, but conquering or diplomacy will be much harder to achieve

Blah de Blah... I have overcome the problems and here it is. I will email it to Markos sometime soon, but you can get it here for now. (You would not believe how close to the size limit on this attacthment)

If anyone gets any errors, post here, or email me, and I will attempt to solve them, but my MedPack is a little dodgy, I once played game where my militia were fully operational abolitionists

I was thinking that the map I made has some flaws in it, and so, rather than releasing separate scenarios, people can make their own maps and post them here, or another thread with a screenshot, or description, and why it is good, and we can see who can get the best victory on the hardest map. (If anyone can win at all). All you need to do is replace "savegame.s2g" in the scen0000 folder to your chosen map. Make one with a good city site, a bad city site, an island map, whatever. If this takes off anything like the Civ2 OCC did, then this should be very very cool.

Have a whole load of fun guys

Ben. The Immortal Wombat.

The map still works fine, but making your own is really not difficult, only when using bmp2ctp2 does it get anywhere near complicated. For small OCC maps it shouldn't be neccessary.

I'm impressed. The file is averaging one download every 15 minutes!!

When I drew my map, I had intended that the central island be surrounded by water, and the AI settle the ring of land around it. When I started playing, I realised that the human could get boats out of the circle sea, and into the bays, and that the AI could settle the surrounding islands, which the human cannot get to until space planes. This could make it difficult to win by conquest.

To make a map, start a random map game on the size map you want, go to the cheat menu/scenario editor (press !) then click the button that looks like a globe. This will remove all the land tiles from the map. From there you can 'paint' tiles of land by using the [ world ] tab, and clicking on the terrain you want. To paint larger areas at once, use the 3 paintbrush buttons to the right, these paint 1, 9 or 16 tiles at once.
I start by drawing round the coastline, then filling in the land afterwards.
NOTE: This technique is only worth doing for small maps. For big maps, use the BMP2CTP2 program, (available here) and there is a tutorial for that in one of the CTP2 forums.

I finally got the MedPack II working again, then I went and tried to play the newest version of OCC for MP2 again and it throws something about a Concept_Militia not present in strings, or something like that. Tired of ads?

No-one else has reported the problem... Try putting all the lines from MM2_occ_str.txt into MM2_scen_str.txt, and renaming both files from the scenario's english directory, so the game does not use them. This should ensure that the game always uses the up-to-date MM2 strings. You will need to replace them on every overwrite you do.

I tried the one city challenge ! And ....
I lost It was a really good game though. Nice and short for a change. I usually play on a large map with lots of civs.

I got to 1878, and finally having discovered democracy, I switched my government and *poof*. My citizens revolted, I was ousted. (At least I think that's what happened, as the screen suddenly went blank then told me my reign was over). A couple of turns earlier under a different form of government they had been complaining of the pollution that was beginning to build up. I had just assigned a bunch of entertainers in the city to boost moral, and hide the pollution issue (there was nothing else I could do). However, under a democratic government this wasn't good enough.
There is more than one way to lose the game.

Otherwise, I was doing okay. I built five wonders early in the game. Recently discovered nationalism, and sent spies out to aquire knowledge. I think I had 35 advances. The game gave me a final score of 4610.

I was ranked 6th out of eight, with all eight civs still in the game, although a couple of the civs were on the brink of collapse (they each only had two cities left).

Score: 4610
Advances: 35
Wonders: 5 (Aristotle's Lyceam,Great Wall,Hagia Sophia,Pyramids,Appian Way)
Population: 28 (I think)
Gold: 27,995
Reign Ended: 1878
Reason: revolt
