Flo takes the top spot from Misotu, in no small part due to Mis herself, as she gave him 3 of his 7.5 points. Congratulations!

I would like to take this opportunity to apologize for the fairly poor service I have provided in the last couple of months. I have had a lot of work to do, and it has got in the way. So, to all the people who have waited a long time for their games, or are still waiting for some to start, my apologies. You are not abandoned.

Also, I cannot keep track of all the games at all times. When something special happens, such as a player dropping out, please email me, or post to search for replacement players yourselves. Many games can still be saved!

But now it is time to celebrate. Again, congratulations to Flo!

Thanks to Viriato for finding and pointing out a couple of mistakes I made. Flo actually has 8 points.

Tournament trivia: 27 games have been completed so far. Misotu has participated in 13 of them.

Don't really think i deserve the championship. The fall title is ok.
The tournament title, however flattering it is, should be awarded to the highest cumulative total. And that sure ain't Flo with his 2 games to date.

Nah, that would probably just favour whoever completed the most games as long as they won a few of them. So some sad, bored bugger with no work permit and nothing to do all day except play SMAC would walk away with it every time ...

Congrats to the champ.

I do have a question. Does taking over as a replacement always count exactly the same as playing the game from start to finish? I am thinking of Hobbes in our AXT 028 game. Hobbes came in as a replacement for John-SJ in what I thought was an extremely poor position (there were 3 human controlled factions that were much larger) and was a "loser" 30 years later. There was probably little that any player could have done in the position to effectively alter the result. I have no idea if Hobbes cares about these stats at all but it somehow seems unfair to tag a replacement as a loser when they volunteer to play from a very difficult position. Just some thoughts.

When you take over a game from someone else, you can send me a message shortly after you get the turn if you do not want the game to count for you. In that case, you will not lose any points or count as defeated if you lose but you will also not get any points should you manage to win.

This decision must be made fairly immediately after a takeover, to avoid having people say 'this will not count' the last turn before someone else transcends.

This system has been in effect for quite a while, but it looks like it was only mentioned in some old announcement threads, so I guess a number of people have not seen it.

Thanks tau. That makes sense and is fair. But you are right in that I had never seen that rule.
