	complaint to admins Support Apolyton, pre-order Civilization IV

It seems to me that the civ 2 - MP section of these forums is becoming congested with more and more crap. Ever since the change in forum policy regasrding post counts at OT the amount of drivel has seeminly increased. In the old days you could post re a game in the mp forum and no it would stil lb eon first page a week later. now more and more posts are filling the page and the actual games being organised or spoken about are becoming less and less.

Even the threads started to discuss games are becoming filled with compeltly off topic spam and hardly refer to the games anymore, or at least on a minor percentage of posts in these threads do... See the "Another Happy Eveniing... " Threads , those damn Aussies (which i am one of , and at times have been lowered to their standard) are surely not discussing Civ2 MP as much as they should be....

It all depends on your definition of crap

Yeah, I too have noticed more activity that is not game specific...
But in many cases, it's just a community of players talking. Sometimes they talk about a game they are in, other times...

I agree that "some" people may be using it to bump their post counts... but overall, it's not much worse than usual. You were away for awhile... so maybe you don't remember that most of it is pretty typical and hasn't changed all that much.

Your right ming, I was away for awhile so I guess I missed all that other stuff, I dont reaaly mind the endless drivel going on in threads about games, as long as reasonalby often they do refer to games... But some of th epsots recently are totally un-game related and IMHO have increased in recent times...

Well as far as I'm concerned, the drivel arrived with Sneak

I have another interpretation - there aren't that many active games on at the moment but there are a couple of active disputes and controversies. So people are chatting more than playing. Not a big deal in my book.

I have posted a bit more at Civ2 MP, and not all of it has been about strategy, trade inconsistencies or which button screwed up my game during Kingchat.

I have, however, joined a Tribe, posted useful links for CB's tournament and joined in the bantering between the Zone stooges and crusty Polytoners.

There is a very natural ebb and flow in content and tone in MP...and I don't think the section suffers at all...in fact, I think there is more actual MP discussion occuring there, as well as a proportionate increase in "drivel".

Frankly, I find the OT to be poll heavy and am really sick of nation baiting and teen punchouts that occur there.

I have no need to boost my poll count...you can bust me down to Settler...doesn't matter to me.

This site is undergoing changes....it only follows that so will peoples' traits and habits.

Oh, and Horse is paying me a dollar a fun post.

I can't agree with you Raz, the threads you refer to (Another happy evening of multiplaying) have been used for several months now in setting up and continueing games within our group of players, yes there are some posts that go off topic but that is more to do with our friendly banter rather than spam.
I am sure if Ming thought we where going over the top he would mention it but he knows we are all playing together while posting on those threads so it is on topic most of the time.


Thats enough of that , now back to our poker game , I mean civ game

What is wrong with a bit of spam now and again anyway? It wouldn't make the discussions much harder to follow and sometimes a little humour is a good thing. I think people have a tendancy to take things too seriously here (Just look at all these OT flame wars...)

I still think my point was valid, but maybe it is a good thing posts have increased in the other forums as now i get to see names i never saw before beacause they were always locked up in OT.. I have had some great discussions recently with some wonderful Ex OT posters
