	2001 Players Tourney Settings Question Remove this text

The response has not been overwhelming, and I suspect it is because of the settings. Since this is for the players, let me know how you want it to be played.

I prefer 1x1x but to find the best player we must use all the settings so I vote to leave it as it is

Well i think its a waste of time, lets face it the vast majority of the players can't play outside of thier favorite settings. Playing a 2x 1x game with 4 players of which 2 of them have never played 2x isn't very fun. Same with 2x 2x players trying to play 1x 1x. Me arrii and nappy aren't going to play(last i heard) because its not going to be much of a challange. And for me large 2x games are no fun because if you use trade(300+science/gold/city) you will either kill everyone, or if you don't you will always launch a spaceship at 1ad.

The point is, who can play with the greatest flexability it would seem.
Or am I misinformed?
If you can only play 2x or only play 1x or only play king you aren't one of the best.

I'm quite happy with Cavebear's original settings. It should flesh out the best most flexible player. I don't play any 2x2x but it also adds interest in the context of this tourney.

Let's see if any of Markus predictions, about how certain game settings will go, actually happens.

I can play outside of deity x1x1. As a matter of fact I've played pretty number of games deity x2x1,king x1x1,emperor x1x1 or emperor x2x1.

I am not playing double movement because I don't enjoy it. Having fun is a whole point.
Anything less than emperor is a settlers spitting contest where your initial starting position is everything.

i will only play if it is totally and utterly completly only without exception and priory to 1x1x.

i dont care wheather it is king, emperor or deity (well actually i do, but i dont think its realistic to ask).

If there are rounds other then 1x1x, count me out. if it is as stated in the first sentence, count me in.

cavebear, please tell me how much time do I have to sign up yet. as some of you know I live in a 3rd world country where it takes years to get a telephone line, let away an internet connection. now I´m waiting for more than 4 months.

I prefer 1x1x. 2xanything is not fun to me.
I've tried several times to play at 2x, but its not the same (game).
Also, I'd like to see a no wonders game, and a game where u can only build 5 military units, no more.
A no wonders deity game, against humans, with no bribes, no wonders, no more than 5 military units looks like a good challenge to me. And 1x1x, of course.

How does one win your game Carnide? if you have no wonders you can't build a spaceship and with 5 military pieces it would be hard to conquer another

LOL! I *think* that might be a bit too exotic for an overall "best" tourney. But something along that line might make for an interesting specialty game.

I like to play for fun. I like new challenges. A no wonders (but apollo) game will be a good challenge. On top of that, u cannot build more than 5 military units (I mean: u cannot own more than 5 military units at the same time (military units: units with an attack factor greater than zero. Settlers, explorers, caravans and diplos are not military units. Trirremes, caravels, warriors are) You can build (or bribe) more than 5 units, but you cannot own more than 5 at the end of each of your turns.)
Also, something like a deity game, raging hordes can also be added to spice it a litle more. he he he

Well, it looks like the settings question is settled. "As is" outpolled "all 1x1x" and "include a 2x1x" combined. So, it shall go as planned. I will emailing out the Round 1 groupings and maps this weekend. That will give everyone a few days to get coordinated.

And away we go... May the best player win!
