Population Density Overlays Browse Apolyton AD-FREE

Population Density Overlays (PDO) in the country's Zone of Control (ZOC) should be included in Civ III to simulate and represent rural population.

As you build up a square the PDO should change from Light yellow-Green-Blue-Red to represent a growing population in the towns present in the farmed, railroaded, or roaded areas on the map.

The density overlays would look much like Kohan:Immortal Soverign's ZOC's.

What is the exact purpose this would fulfil though. For example in SimCity, this is a necessity for finding areas of high crime, lack of water, etc. But it wouldn't really be of any use whatsoever in Civ3 apart from 'oooh, look at that funny map thing'. Interesting, but I doubt it would be worth the effort...

Support Apolyton, buy Galactic Civilizations

It would make the game more 'real' and the people could be killed or scattered when wars take place on their lands... thus reducing the population of one persons' country.

I don't think I can agree on that one, DC. We will be losing a lot of human resources (read: cannon fodder) with bombings, terrorist attacks, biological weapons and many neat stuff that will be included in Civ 3!
Besides, we'll be losing 2 ppl with a settler and 1 with a worker, remember?

Lose 30 kilos (of popups)

I suppose the idea makes since. After all, not everyone lives in big cities. These people outside of cities could be included in your population so when you conquer the world, there would be more than 50 million people in your empire. Also, people living outside of a city could be used to slightly increase trade in that city, depending on the amount of people outside of the city.

Think about this Support Apolyton, buy Call to Power 2

Hum, I still don't buy it, Jonny. What I do buy is to assimilate one of those workers inside the city radius whe I conquer a city that has adjacent city squares to another city.

To make things more clear, I'll try this approach:

Do you remeber those white border squares inside the city view on Civ 2? It meant that that square was being used by another city, right?
Ok. Now, imagine you have 2 enemy cities really near each other. When you conquer one of them, you would "kidnap" the other city workers into yours newly conquered city, and the other city would never have access to those squares until you remove a worker from it.

Did I manage to make myself clear?

Support Apolyton, buy Galactic Civilizations: Deluxe Edition

I'm merely talking about how the people could lose their influence to one civ... for example

Enemy moves into square X.
Square Xes population declines by 5% (emigration, etc.) BUT Square Xes resources and population are now counted as part of "Enemy's" civilization.

Well, I would only agree with that idea, Darkcloud, if the enemy's government was feudalism. That way the people would agree to submit to the new lord. Otherwise, the military unit couldn't make the people work for them, even under occupation.
