I have been working on my trade strategies in a duel 2 x 2 king large board game verse the ai. I achieved nuclear fusion by 700 bc. This was done all natural. No reopening huts for best results, no interaction with the ai. I challenge anyone of you to duplicate this feat on the same board I played on with the same starting position. There may be only 2 other players in the world capable of this goal. I had 76 citys, 2 techs a turn and 3000 gold income per turn. I am far from perfection however. There were many things that i could have done different to expediate this process and i believe I can get it done by 800 bc next time. Try it, evolve into the new age of civ.....I have and am now the best player in the world without a doubt.......

Yes, I'd like to see the 4000BC save and possibly have a go at it. I doubt fusion by 700BC is repeatable in most circumstances though. Maybe with a good start and some long distance trade with the AI. I'd like to see it achieved against an aggressive and skilled human player though.

well you must have tripped a hell of a lot of huts then.
I just tried it in a half hour played really quick.
21 cities.
no huts
no wonders(except HG)
no talking to the AI.
Automobile and tatics at 700bc. Its nearly impossible to get 3 techs a turn fast enough if you don't have the trade specials. (i had 3 whales for my first 5 cities ) and no other specials. I suppose if i had a better start(and huts) i could have accomplished it. But whats the point? you can't launch before 1ad

i just re read it. Now i understand. 76 cities by 700 bc.... you opened a ton of huts and got a lot of tribes.
I just tried again(quick half hour game). this time i had 30 cities and 6 techs short of nuclear fission at 700bc. I got 1 tribe, and 2 techs from huts. I also didn't start with any free tech. Give decent trade specials and i can do the same thing by 1300 bc. its nothing special. You only need 4-5 super trade cities. The rest are just fillers.

Sorry for my absence, been on vacation last 2 weeks and very busy for last 4 weeks. I only had a few minutes online cause where i was there was alot of mountains and no local internet service and being the cheap bastard that i am, did not want to pay hotels extortionistic rate.
This was done on 2 x 2 king with the right type of map that was entirely created by random and unaltered by me. I had a reasonable start with republic by 2650 bc. Trade by 2450 bc. Mikes and hangings built by 1950 bc. Magelleons by 1750 bc. Leos by 1500 bc. Then all hell broke lose on the tech production as I built lirary and universitys throughout main cont. 1 tech came via trade routes and 2 via natural tech production in my democracy.
Its now 200 ad. I have 175 citys. closing in on 4 techs a turn, not quite there yet. producing 50 engineers a turn and 30 freight. I have 60 transports and 150 engineers running around cleaning pollution and building infrastructure and I have 51 future techs. My goal is 600 future techs by 2000 ad.
Ill attach the board I played on. Choose the spanish, this is exactly where i started.
Now Ming, this was a fun game to play to see how far you can advance before the game ends. A learning expierment on trade routes and the advanced tech tree. All this will never be possible in a game with others as almost every game I have played has been decided well before any of this is needed, get it?

Sid Meijier then is either a commie or a wacko enviromentalist because he limits what you can accomplish. Civnet was the same way. Well, we will see first hand what happens later on in the game...In civnet, and civ1 pollution would ravish you and you had to end the game prematurely.
