Do you know what I think???? Support Apolyton buy from Amazon

No of course - except something I wouldn't write anyway

Who says that we should give up "our" nations just because we didn't want - or didn't have time - to play anymore?????

We all know, that certain games looses and gains depending if some new comes in taking control of a country. Alliances are made, old turned down.

Why not try to make some "disturbance" in some of the old games?

If some would be interested, I could maybe offer participation in the US game now. I am afraid, that this game would turn too peacefull now, that 3 nations are allied against one and with one neutral, all are more or less in peace - anyway the spanish would never have a chance if they tried to wage war against the whole alliance or tried to build the alian life. A new player might do something about this.

I have not discussed this with anybody before and I am not sure, I actually would do this - but what do you think??????

Hey Keygen.

This is not recruitment - this might be breaking up with traditional thinking.

I have only used the US, as this might too be peacefull now.

Surely the DC-game could also need some dynamite now (that Jon, Frazer and me are eliminated from there). Just look how busy they are building "I-love-also-you" improvements.

I know EXACTLY what Bird is talking about

WAR!

WAR!

WAR!

In standard CTP, there is more than one way to strive for victory, which is, IMO, one of CTP's greatest assets. As most of you know, diplomacy plays a crucial role in carrying out a particular strategy... yada, yada, yada...

This is the reason I like Zobo's idea so much

For all of you warmongers, THERE IS HOPE!!

Dutcheese encouraged me to switch from lame LAN/TCP to PBEM.I first read it in October of 2000, when things started to get good... I loved the diplomacy, almost like somthing in real life!

What Jon,Thor,BM,Blackice, and Fraze did for the 'pep' of the game was unbelievable. Made me want to come back reading everytime.

anyway, thanks for the entertainment guys

I know it's not possible, but wouldn’t it be fun if we could introduce new players and civs during a PBEM game.

For example we could then turn DC (if it really has gone off the boil) into an alien invasion scenario by suddenly introducing one or two high tech Civs from outer space, to try and take over the planet. The existing native Civs would then have to work together to try and survive against the more advanced but smaller invaders.

I must agree, I used to read Dutcheese with great interest and was really happy to join in when Luk offered me the position. I did the best I could to keep the diplomacy in that game the same.

In a way I am disappointed that Jon and Birdman were eliminated from the game, the two of them did an amazing job at bringing diplomatic intrigue and the overall fun of the game. I have yet to have this much fun in a game. Thanks Jon and BirdMan!

Its kind of sad that the World has fallen into the position it is in now. The world is a mess (thanks in part to the efforts of Jon and Birdman to pollute all they could before they were wiped out), and everyone is concentrating on cleaning up the pollution and building improvements.. no one is interested in some action.

I think I might add a little adventure to the game, but the problem is BirdMan's counter offensive towards the end of the war really did major damage to my military.

I think the AI is way too dumb fraze...

Yes thor, DC got me thinking.....I thought strange things like... It seemed like the Vikings were forced into being a puppet of Birdman.

strange things like that.... I remember getting a turn after asking to see the pollution... Ireland and england had polluted about 1/3 of there landscape. Which suprised me, because never had i seen Pollution so bad!

That had to have been a huge problem for the Commi's..

CtP is a Game and, as such, should be fun!

Any Game which, long before it is over, has an obvious winner simply becomes a job of work. Even if the odds are long against you, as they were for us in DC, you still should try whilst there is any chance at all. It is otherwise the boring routine of hitting 'New Game' when playing against the AI because you know that you've already won even if it will take countless Turns until you see the Victory Screen.

An injection of fire into a Game that has stagnated could work wonders but how could it be done if all of the Secondary Powers had already accepted ultimate defeat? To many mere survival until the final Turn is satisfaction enough and the fear of extinction too much to bear.

Fun Threads are most important in boring Games, or Games going through boring times, but the real diplomacy does not happen here! They are also very important in getting other people interested in joining Games through the enjoyment of reading the quasi-narrative.

You know, I realized that the World and the Love Conquers games have the potential to be somewhat like DC. Especially Love conquers though. All the players are active in role playing and although a winner is quite apparent it could still be a very interesting game.

Same thing with World. Almost all the players in that game are different from the original ones. (except americans I think). And they are all (except Brazilians) quite active in the role playing.

Regarding World Scenario, although the combination of London Exchange & Edison's Lab is a deadly one the winner isn't clear yet. And this might have something to do with the low science Communism offers and... diplomacy ...

BTW, the only original player left in World Scenario is the Americans, me, indeed .

And it has one of the most interesting diplomacies of all the games I am playing or moderating, especially when Creator was the leader of the Assyrians.
And I thing that the diplomacy in this game will become even more intense in the future.

heheh.. yeah. I have no clue what Stavros is upto. Ihope the Brazilians and Assyrians duke it out.. That would weaken the two of them and give us a chance to catch up!

From what I can see, there are 3 main blocks that have formed (due to creator's aggressiveness).

Brazilians.
Assyrians
and the other weak nations of the world that have banded together. But nothing's quite clear cut yet, and if one of the big players takes a little player as an ally, that could twist the entire power balance in the game.

Seems like many got my idea.

Now, what if some got serious and did withdraw from a rated game? One, who was not at all in a loosers position?!

Should we graduate the normal 3 times defeat, that is the normal price?

Or should we have something like no. 1 and 2 can change for "free", 3 and 4 for "one" defeat, 5 and 6 for "two" defeats and - of course - 7 and 8 for the normal "three" defeats?

Edit to above: The played turns are played - no changes there.

*

Any ideas/suggestions?

BTW - in the World Scenario. Yeeeesss, I am in a kind of alliance, but I am not nessesarely my allies "Yours Truly to the Death". Zulu interests comes first .

Full PM-box? Change here!

I knew that would come.

And I seriously do hope, that I will not need any military help in the near future.

But of course - with the "S" in this game, then nobody knows what happens

"S" as is Swissy (Strong) , Stavros (Silent) and Saddam (Surprising) .

I simply cant predict what will happen - therefore I keep a escaperoute open for the Zulus.

Edit: And any CTP-games should be allowed to have a certain level of paranoia

Keygen you're right.. the more I look at it, the more I realize that it has the potential of becoming as interesting as DC. Unfortunately with 3 commi players we'll have abotu the same pollution problem as in DC!

In monkey1 everybody is Communist .Im the 'great polluter' in that one..

However I have led china from a weak-pathetic nation to a force to be reckoned with. From Sotl's to Battleships, from Musketeers to marines and Tanks. From Trimes to Subs.....all in 15 turns. With the help of the Roman's of course,we have gotten alot stronger than everyone else (except swissy)...

I think bird will agree, that Monkey1 has a nice Role-playing future

Yeeesss.... I know how to force a nation into science and research - afterall I have done that a couple of times

Quantum_mechanics in only 5 turns, having just a little above 30 cities, under communist government , and also under heavy attack of the australian kangooru Lung .

Of course some cities was starving, but that is life (or the opposite). Kind of thing only a (jail)bird :banned: would have done to his own nation !

It's the only way I've seen thus far. It may be possible if someone took me on early in a game, before I get 20 cities. Or if I didn't have a bunch of mountains and goods.

In APQS I was bound to fall. I had no mountains, so while my trade shot up my tech, I had no production base to build anything quickly. Don had a sweet start area, and was bound to surpass everyone as long as he was allowed to build up. Since he kept a low profile on the powergraph, nobody bothered him until it was to late.

In Monkey1, I have possibly the best set-up possible. Plenty of matching goods and mountains. Finding Space Flight in a ruin didn't hurt either. Corporate Republic in 7 then Robotics in 3 after the gov change.

Jamaica is all swamps and the recent rise in pollution could be a attempt or not to knock you off your high horse .

I hope that you understand swissy, me and bird would probably never grow the balls to attack you ... Our alliance is mainly for the scientific part of it and mutaul defense of course

But do not get cocky swissy, I can speed up my pollution rate very fast and cause a flood soon.. I know that your nation would suffer ..

But it looks like you are draining your swamps from my map view.
