What do you think? Support Apolyton, buy Civilization III: Complete

I just wantet to know what people like most, the city improvement queue from CTP games, or the "pick one improvement at a time" from the first civ games?

I votes for the classical civ way, the way ctp is just don't give me the feeling of building an empire, more like building a machine!!!

I do really find it easier to que up a series of projects, especially if I'm intending to do the same in a bunch of cities. I do (generally) like to build thing in the same order. The system in SMAC was similar but not as well developed.

Don't get me wrong, I also think it's easier to set up a queue, but I think a game like civilization should give us the feeling of having to make people happy, not the feeling of making a computer happy

But hey if you prefer it to easy, then the ctp style will ofcause be best for you

classic civ-tyle.

I think there should be an option though to mass-change all cities etc. etc.

In example, when I discovered SDI on deity level, and I'm in war I want to have all my cities build an SDI asap.
It would be good if I could change every cities target to SDI at once.

Full PM-box? Change here!

I voted classic civ style, but actually I'm in doubt.

At first I liked to queue up several things to build, but later on certain units got obsolete, but they were still being build....

So that is not fun. Maybe a compromise can be made:
A build queue but with an option to replace all obsolete units in all build queues in all cities?

This could be made easily by making a "national something" (don't remember what it's called) from CTP2. There you can see which city is building what and choose to change what special cities should build, the only change there should be is, it should only be one building to build, not to set up a queue

But most of all, I think this should be optional, options makes more people happier

Well, in ctp2 it was even worse (I don't remember ctp1): I build a city set it to produce some defense, after a few rounds the defense got obsolete and the defenses being build got deletet. After 20 rounds I figure out I have never put anyone to defend that city, so I go to check the city...building some city improvement and got no soldiers to defend...and the worst thing, the enemies have just crossed the borders near the city

Avatar Enlargement: We've got the solution

Early in the game one at a time works fine. When you are founding your 25th city in 1700 AD and there is nothing useful that can be done with it until it has built an aqueduct and reached size 8, queues are a godsend. Having queues doesn't mean you have to preorder more than one thing at a time.

When the queues is handled as in ctp2 that is nesecary, cuz the msgbox about city queue is empty was to hard to find among all the other posts you had to delete, cuz the box never poped up

Absolutely. There are an awful lot of bad things about the CtP interface I never want to see in another game again, least of all Civ3. Firaxis should cherry pick the ideas that did work though.

I personally like the way it was done in CTP2 with the que, although I like the way the message boxes popped up better in CTP. It was really handy to have all the message over on the left hand side of the screen.

Yes, IF they have queues then do it like in ctp1, though I think it hsould be optional

Support Apolyton, pre-order Civilization IV

I liked the ability to queue up multiple improvements in CTP, and would hope that it would be a feature in Civ3.
