Has anyone ever played intimate diplomacy? If so, is it any good? If so, should we maybe have a Poly Intimate Diplomacy Tourney?

It's a two-player version, but not the one in the original rules. You each control one power and then each turn you bid for control of the neutral powers. Or something like that, I was hoping someone would know for sure.
