*** New Rule ***
The rated status of a game will be determined at the end of 9th turn mark, (before turn 10 begins), rather that at the beginning of a game. This means that the first Power Graph rating calculation will take place on turn 19, instead of 9. This rule goes into effect immediately, (1-SEP-2001), but does not affect already rated games.

Frequently Asked QuestionsHow do I become rated? Simply post, to this thread, the highest level of victory that you ever attained, (Chieftain, Warlord, Prince, King, Emperor, or Deity), in a "single player" game of Call to Power, along with the Nation and Territory that you presently reside. That's it! You'll see your name appear on the above list within a week.
How do the ratings change? See the below CTP Ratings Links section for an in depth discussion.
On whose turn should the Power Graph be reported? It doesn't matter because the Power Graph remains the same during the cycle of the turn. However, we recommend that the 1st player (blue) always report the Power Graph results.

TENPL639_AM Report Legend:
NAT.TR - Nation and Territory of Primary Residence.
PBEM RATING - Starts with an initial value depending upon the highest CtP AI level ever honestly defeated: Chieftain=14; Warlord=16; Prince=17; King=18; Emperor=19; Deity=21. This rating changes by winning or losing to other rated players, (at the *9 turn mark every ten turns), while playing "rated" PBEM games. See the CtP Multiplayer topic "PBEM Ladders" for details on how this rating change is calculated.

TEN619_AM Report Concepts:
Win/Loss - A Win counts by having a "higher" Power Graph rating at the ten turn mark during a "rated" game. For example, in a five player game, at the ten turn mark, each player will receive four results - 4 wins and 0 losses, or 3 wins and 1 loss, etc.
Delinquency - 24 or more hours late counts as a delinquency. Each delinquency deducts -0.1 ratings points from player's rating.
Inactivity Adjustment - Players will lose 5/100ths of a ratings point (-0.05) for each month they go without a ratings adjustment, (i.e. remain inactive in the ratings for an entire month).

Elimination Rule
If, in a rated game, a player:
a) resigns;
b) changes status from "rated" to "unrated";
c) gets annihilated; or
d) gets "next turned" for three turns in a row
e) has been found to be using bug utilization tricks,
then every remaining player in that game "DEFEATS" THAT PLAYER THREE TIMES (as measured by the normal ten turn phase defeat).
For example, in a 5 player game, the first person who gets "eliminated from the ratings in that game" would be "defeated" 12 times (as measured by the normal power graph 10 turn defeat), (3 multiplied by 4 remaining players.) This equates to an average decrease in ratings of about 2 to 3 points for the eliminated player. The second player eliminated would be defeated 9 times (3 multiplied by 3 remaining players), ... etc.
In the case of resignation or three consecutive "next turns", then that resigned player's civilization will be "next turned" until a replacement player, (either rated or unrated), takes over that civilization's control.

2. Player list (in turn order) of all players' APOLYTON HANDLES (no nick names please). Place players that wish to be "unrated" in parentheses;
3. All desired rated players must have a current rating -- (please state their initial rating if they do not have a current rating).
4. The current turn number;
5. The turn number you want the game to become "rated".

Love a game with him  set it up. paulino1 seems to be reluctant to play any of us one vs. one. lol or join the non-cheating league example the science crack...
Comment: Or whom ever postion you took over good or bad in a game... berxperts games as a classic example. Yet on the other hand berxpert and zobo are in many games. Good land, bad land and the ratings more accurately express thier rise and increadible fall. They are more or less in the top few of the majority of their games yet in the few they are not doing so well more or less determines their rankings. You lose more than you gain under the right or wrong situation with the rating system so think clearly and have FUN.
Point1: Help the newbie 21+ in your games that will keep their rating high and enable you if in the top spot to reap in more points.
Point2: Never play a game with people below the half way mark, they get good land your rating will drop like Zobo, a rock.
Point3: Be like Klair play one game stay ahead the entire game and stay on top of the rankings.
Point3: If you stay on top of the rankings the entire game and lose chances are you will have won more points thoughout the game then you will lose, losing the game.
The question or point would be is this a true measure of skills and abilities, the rankings.

Answer obviously is no, leading to the question what's the point then? FUN I say you have to love this game 
This is just my oppinion, also I think Quinn has done a bang up job here and the ratings system is ok. But as Quinn elluded too think about your rating when playing games. There is more to this system then meets the eyes. Study as an example Zobo's game results for a referance point. These comments were not intended to attack the current system but to expand on what has been said here. It was also intended to make people more aware of how their actions in game influence the way the rankings play out.
Example: To gang up on say Fuzzball or berxpert in a game knocking them down the rankings. That actually will take away from points gained in the future for some or all of the people playing the game especially the winner. You will get less points as he no longer will have a better rating. Food for thought... to take on Klair hint.. wink... nudge... and to win a quick victory would give you good points. But to play a slow game with her and beat her down the rankings would yeild very little once she becomes the underdog and you win.
Is Klair really the best? I would say NO not until she has played more than one game. How about a game Klair? Rated PBEM vs. Me, Quinn, Fuzzball, just a few names this league has many top notch players lets see how long you stay on top heh. Come on play some games... I personally would like to see first hand how good you really are... THAT WAS A CHALLENGE... not just from me but all of those who want a piece of the best?

Just fooling Ice, I couldn't resist. Always appreciate your comments on the rating system... though, they are usually negative. Criticism makes for a stronger system.
What you are forgeting, though, is that PBEM includes the added, very important, skill of DIPLOMACY. If, for example, Klair can convince someone to buoy her position via diplomacy, then that, in itself, is a crucial CTP skill, and should be factored into the PBEM Rating. One-on-One games do demonstate one's ability in production and strategy, but most all PBEM games require a very strong diplomatic ablility, (something I am sorely lacking in, but I'm working on it!! ) Keep this in mind, oh Blackice the Unrated One, when considering someone's true ability.
Oh and one more thing Ice .... Define "fun" for me. One person's "fun" is another's "boredom", and another's "misery".

Yes and has been accounted for... note points given...define diplomacy for me...is it to be rated well or to win??? In the end what role does it play with TRUE ability rating? Yes we can all keep some poor person happy. Pass them some goods, have them watch our back door, get them wasted while we win...
Diplomacy hummm, true ability... hummm. Did it done it been there, next... Yes I prefer 1x1 even land mass what more can happen to determine skill?

Ah but Quinn the rated one... being unrated gives me unbias opinion which I hope I have given... true ability meaning? I think the ratings so far speak for it self, true rating is lacking LOOK AT ZOBO winning more games than losing and droping in the ratings... like a game rated Quinn? Klair? rated... I will drop all games just to play you two now rated...

You know what? You are all right. What am I doing wasting my time keeping track of all this? What's the point? Forget about it. I'm serious. Nothing personal everyone, but all I get is grief for this running this system -- even from the rated players that are doing well. So, if anybody wants to take over running this system, feel free to do so. I am finished with my contribution. All of the the data and formulas exists in the above reports.  I've done this for too long. I thought it would inspire people to enjoy the game more. Man, was I wrong.

Thanks for the comments Ice, but I am finished. I am not upset with anyone. I just started thinking about it, and you're right. What's the point? It takes some work to keep all this straight... what for? At work, I don't mind the complaints, because I'm getting paid. This is wasted volunteer work.
I hope someone else grabs the ball and runs with it. I'm done.
