What's the deal? Is my computer too good for SMAC or something? Support Apolyton, buy Galactic Civilizations: Deluxe Edition

When I try to play Alpha Centauri it tells me that it's not compatible with my processor. Not because my processor isn't good enough........... it's a ****ing Pentium 4 1.5ghz for christ's sake!!!!
Is there some kind of patch??

Got spare money?

Look in the readme for SMAC and the 4.0 patch and within the last 14 days on this forum. There is a setting change to one of the text files that you need to make because some of the SMAC code is incompatable. When they created the pentium 4 they dropped some compatability with the older chips. Just like Windows 2000 is not completely compatable with some of the really old DOS programs.

I remember some of those threads. You had to change a setting in alpha centauri.ini. Something with Voxel Algorithm, I believe.

Increase Your PM Length

With a machine like that, you can only play SMAC if you preset the SE choices to FM/WEALTH, which setting would not go down very well with Che.
