Changes to basic game? Support Apolyton, buy Civilization 2

Just a simple question.

Does installing the Apolyton pack or the Med Mod (or any other mod for that matter) in any way change the settings or game play of the basic unadulterated game?

I know the Med Mod changes some files in the root folders (e.g. barbarian.aip) but I dont know if these affect the basic game along with the scenario.

Yes, these do change the basic game (especially const.txt). That's why the MedMod has copies of the original AI data in the Med readmes directory. You can simply copy that data over the ctp_data directory to restore the basic game.

If you want to be able to play either game without resorting to copying files, you'll have to have two copies of CTP on your computer.
