Has anyone seen this bug? Support Apolyton, buy Call to Power 2

I'd like to know if anyone else saw a certain problem with AI governments. Their governments always followed the pattern monarchy/republic to democracy to fascism. Once fascism was discovered, not a single democracy remained. Everyone became a fascist. Communism was simply ignored.
This annoyed me until I tampered with the AI government file. How they changed after that is another long story...
So, has anybody else found this a problem?

Suffering from ads?

I have seen the AI enact Theocracy, Communism and Corporate Republic. It probably has something to do with the level of difficulty you are playing at. Even If the AI followed certain pattern gov wise, I would not go so far as to consider it a bug

I've seen theocracy and all the futuristic governments.
I doubt if it has anything to do with the level. I meddled with the file when I was on... um.... Emperor level, I think. I doubt if the Deity AIs were planned to be drastically different. But I'll never know now, since I changed the file.

Tell me what file(s) you modified and I'll send their original counterparts to you
On second thought, if it's just one file, I can just attach it to a later post

I still think the AI is really easy to beat. Just for kicks, I wage war against seven AI civs at a time to make the game interesting

Thanks, jpww, but I'm quite happy with the way my opponents are. They didn't become easier through my intervention, but more aggressive and cunning.

While I'm at it, I want to tell you all of another horrible bug. This one IS a bug.
I usually conquer the orange civ in the beginning (it's always a neighbor). Then sometime during the game I get a message that a city of such-and-such country has revolted and formed a new civilization (it's color is also orange). I think, "ok." When I go to conquer the world, I don't find any trace of them. They have not been defeated. With 16 civs, the world is very densely populated, and there are few spaces my armies haven't seen. Where are they? So one time I built a few space fighters and surveyed all the world. There were no orange cities. Please don't tell me I missed a few tiles. I know I didn't. There were no orange cities on land, sea, or space. Another time I reached the orange rebels through the ESP Center and exchanged maps. Their maps showed no cities. My GlobeSat doesn't show their cities. There are clearly NONE! But the game says they exist! This happened several times! What's going on???

Possibly the city starved at the same time it revolted, and the game didn't register it as a loss for the new civ.

Another idea: a civ can survive with only settlers and no cities at the beginning of the game, but later if you lose all your cities you die even if you have settlers. Now, if the condition is that you must have built at least one city to die when they are all lost, then the new civ might have built a settler and then lost it's city, but it didn't die because the game thought it was a new civ. This settler then could find nowhere to build. You would expect to see it with the globesat, though it might be hidden somehow...

These are all very plausible suggestions, J. Yes, if they only had a settler, and it was walking around, my space fighters could have missed it.

Thats funny

When the AI was unmodded, all they used to do was Monarchy. They totally ignored Facism, Theocracy, Democracy, Communism, etc..

played Monarchy through the whole game...

I think you are reffering to AIP, AI right?

No, Saddam, I'm certainly not. Those AI were the completely unaltered AI in my Call to Power.
I'm thinking of another explanation... I bought my game in May 1999. That's only a few months after it was released. Perhaps there were some bugs or inconsistencies in the earlier copies of the game, which were fixed later.

Get a bigger avatar today!

Any problems there were would have been solved by the patches (if you're talking about stuff that only you face and no one else).
So that can't be it, unless you haven't installed the patch (which is available here at Apolyton).

I was playing a 21 nation game, and I discovered facism.

At least 15 of the other nations asked me to share the advance with them

That's funny!

One time I remember coaxing a nation to tell me about fascism (I hate it when someone knows something I don't). It was after I altered the file, so the AI had some military sense. They wouldn't exchange fascism for anything except tank warfare. That unhealthy interest in tanks really gave me a fright...

This is what happened, Orange had a settler when you wiped them out. It became a city but with no capital, with that many negative points it revolted. Again with all the negative points it simply cease to exsist after the revolt. It has happened to me and I have watched it's demise

I don't quite see what you're saying, blackice. If a nation is wiped out, all the settlers die. I've seen them die before my eyes. Besides, if that orange city revolted, I don't know why I'd get a message saying that it belonged to, say, Green.
