I know its after all the animals have run away through the open barn door so to speak, but in the future it will be much safer to create a seperate folder for any and all modpacks/scenarios you create/download. if i were you i would copy all your modpack files and reinstall civ2.

I already have numerous folders for all of my scenerios. 110 exactly, all in my scenerios folder of Civ 2 MGE. I am running Windows 98. I was browsing throught the "find" option in windows however and checked out my scenerio. Apparently, I have 2 sets of rules.txt and 2 sets of a file called rules.bak. I immediatly jumped to the conclusion that one rules text was different from the other, causing the game to malfunction and crash. However on closer inspection, the rules texts were very similar. I deleted the older one promptly thinking that my worries were over. Of course, they weren't. All of my units went back to the origional defaults as well as terrain etc. because of the rules text. But, the game did not crash. This has left me to the conclusion that the error is somewhere in my rules text. One rules text is also a hidden file. But, with only one, it goes back to the defaults. I also downloaded the MGE 1.3 patch in hope of correcting this, it did little. need urgent help!
