Some people see several civ names in like at the beginning flash animation, but it can only be seen if you have a slow connection. The greeks come after the Egyptians...

The update will be noon EST today, according to Dan Magaha.

Put an end to popups!

No, it's not daylight savings time in New York, that only occurs in the winter. So PH was right, it was 7:03 est.

Lose 30 kilos (of popups)

I think everything is screwed up Zanzin in that respect because you are in the southern hemisphere and your seasonal patterns are 6 months out, so I do not know what that does to the time relatively in all the countries...

So if you calculate it back to GMT +1, it would mean that at 17:00 the next civ of the week will be on line?

If that is correct, it would be up in 15 minutes...

Daylight savings time occurs during the summer months, TW. The way to check this is to watch your TV station. During the winter, the sun's rising and setting are relatively equally spaced around noon (dependent on your position within the time zone; during the summer, they're spaced around 1:00 pm.

Egyptian War Chariot is the UU

a2 d1 m2

whereas normal war chariot a1 d1 m2

so egyptian war chariot is more like a civ 1 chariot (not the watered down civ 2 unite )

It's interesting that a normal Civ3 chariot is just a fast warrior. The normal Civ3 archer is even weaker than a Civ2 archer (it's the equivalent of a slow horse). Neither of these units is represented in the Civ2 game.

It seems that Civ3 will have more types of ancient units, filling in some attack/defense/move gaps (which sounds good to me).

Since normal Civ3 chariot is so crummy combat-wise, I predict it will be even less expensive to build than a Civ3 horseman. (The bits of the tech tree imply that one will discover the wheel before horseback riding - lending more credence to this theory.) I bet normal Civ3 chariots will be used as cheap early explorers.

The Poor chariot! It gets watered down everytime a new version of Civ comes out. In Civ I, its attack value was a 4, and in Civ II it was down to a 3.

This was more realistic. I used to go on rampages in Civ I, using chariots to knock off several other civs before they could build walls.

But now a 1?! Unless you are Egypt, they won't even be worth building. In Civ II, I never build horsemen(2/1/2) because they're not worth it (always end up with some from goodie huts, though). The new chariot is even weaker than a horseman!

I can't wait for Civ IV when the chariot attack value is 0, and it can only be used for defense.

Oh woe, oh woe are my poor chariots.

Of course you can always edit, I suppose.
