It seems Rasputin has stumbled across a Nazi museum or picture gallery, he's got lots of wonderful pics. I'm impressed. Keep it up, it really enriches the thread. (though perhaps don't put up any Nazi flags, I can see everyone's point about that)
You all really need to start transfering these posts to the webpage. From what i've seen when people post pictures they don't last the life of the thread and people looking through this a year later will just find a bunch of broken links not the cool pictures and maps. Put everything up on the webpage. Or at least put all the pictures on the webpage so the link would remain consistent.
Oh and for everyone who hates all this Nazi crap it should just challenge you to find some good anti-Nazi pictures. I'm sure the US had some good anti-Nazi propaganda from the war. Show us some pics of Nazi's getting their heads bashed in, that'll even the score. Or if you hate Nazis (who doesn't) then play that out in the game and conquer the Israelis and force a government change. You all leave out political reasons for actions in the game. Many of the wars fought in this century had a strong ideological component to them, don't leave that out. If country X is an evil commie bastard- kick his ass. If country Y is an oppresive capitalist swine- kick his ass.
Just my .03 cents worth. (my ideas are worth more, hehe)

"Ugh, this horrible cold!" coughed Enzo Pagniacci as he held a hankerchief (sp?) to his mouth. Adriana Alessi looked at him with a worried face.
"Sir, please, you musn't strain yourself. Elections are in two weeks and DeGaulle is campaigning heavily." she said as she pulled his blanket up to his chest.
"You're like a daughter to me Adriana." he said with a smile.
She simply smiled back "Thank you sir, I can't say any less of you, you've been more than a father to me. At least more than my real father was, you're a good man Enzo." she said placing her hand on his.
"I'm sorry Adriana, I know you've had a lot of terrible things happen to those you love, and I can't help but think that my demise may not be too far off..." he said, speaking of Arturo Alessi, her husband and founder of the Nuova Europa movement. The movement that finally ousted Europe's fascists. Then of the most recent and crushing death to the European military; that of Antonio DeNucci, who perished in a gunfight against the Asians near Savona.
"Don't say that Enzo, you're strong. You're a soldier and you will survive this." she said.
"I must drop out of the elections, I can't represent the Dove party in this state. Churchill would do much better..."
Madrid, Spain; European Union...
"I know Charles, I know, its going to really mess with everything that has been done, but it must occur." said Winston, sipping on his tea.
"Well" said DeGaulle "He has been doing some horrible things, you are right about that. Abuses of power are apparent."
"That's why we must act, this nation is based on a Parliamentary system of government. That's what this country is all about, our flag says 'EUP' on it; European Union Parliament. We can't allow Pagniacci to run roughsod over our nation. I understand this may alienate me from my party, but it must be done." said Churchill looking out accross the rolling mountain ranges. "Beautiful country, Spain."
"Yes it is." said Charles looking accross at the mountain ranges "When shall we announce it then? There must be an act of Parliament otherwise we're simply seizing control. That would be worse than anything Pagniacci's done. Besides, he has emense support from the people. To them he's like the heir of Klamens Metternich himself. He got Uralsky back, he's like their hero now. To attempt to do this may be career suicide for all of us."
"Yes, that may be so. But you do understand that if we continue to allow Pagniacci to hold sway over this nation the way he does, we're risking a weakened parliament and the same thing that happend in the FDP. A fascist regime. We can't afford to allow National Socialism to capture our people again, that's what put us in this situation; Mussolini and those God damned Nazis!" said Churchill.
"Alright Winston, I agree. Who would have ever thought, the Dove leader and the Hawk leader agreeing on something." smiled DeGaulle.
"Well sir, we're Europeans first. We must fufill our pledge, we can't allow Pagniacci to do this any longer. He ripped up a peace treaty from Asia without allowing us to read it for God's sake, the man is an egotistical soldier boy who doesn't realize the time for guns is over. Peace must reign, technology and development must be the order of the day now." said Churchill.
"Well we must develop some sort of armed forces, peace has't been wholly achieved yet." said DeGaulle.
"Well friend, that is for Parliament to decide..."

Sorry about what happened on Thursday, well the two things. I'm sorry that the modpack wans't good I will fix it up and have it up by Labor Day, or Monday/Tuesday to our Australian friends. It will be impecable, I swear to you.
And as for my dissapearance, I already explained in the HOTW3 thread but I'll repeat for everyone else; there were off and on thunder storms in my area, Ozzy can back that up if he wants. My electricity went out just as I was connecting to the restart we had and stayed off for like five minutes, when it came back on my compter wouldn't go into the windows prompt, so I had to get my friend to fix it, which he did last night. So finally I got it back up and running this morning.
I am really sorry about that, I wanted to play so bad. What wound up happening anyway?
And as far as my stance on Raz's use of the Nazi emblems; I don't mind them, it tells a story. I just wish he would "Israelize" them a little bit more, I mean he is the FDP but his culture is Israeli. But other than that its cool with the Capo.
EDIT: Deity I do not look like SunTzu, what the hell!?!?!

"Mr. Pagniacci is not doing well." said his nurse. He had been sick for the past month, General Franco was quite worried.
"I see, do the doctors know what the problem is?" asked Franco.
"Well, he is quite old, right now they just think his body is giving up on him. The drinking didn't help his lot either, there are some final tests they are going to do and we'll find out then. Truthfully things don't look very good for him."
"I see" he sighed "Well is he okay to visit?"
"Yes, but please, no politics. That can't be good for him." said the nurse.
"I understand." said Franco as he nodded and made his way into Pagniacci's room. There were two guards standing at attention, Franco saluted them and approached the Prime Minister.
"Ahh, Franky. C'mere." said Pagniacci, he seemed to be happy.
"How are you holding up Enzo?"
"Not to well, but we all knew we would die one day eh?" he replied, his voice was very raspy.
"Don't talk like that soldier, you'll be ready for war in no time. I've got your gun and your bunker ready for you." he smiled.
"Well, an old man like me can't be too much help against the Asians, they're fiesty." he replied.
"Yes, they are quite tough." replied Franco, the war had been over for months, Pagniacci himself signed the peace treaty. It was quite uneasy for Franco to see him like this; for years he had been his Commander, then a member of the Joint Chiefs, now he was his Prime Minister. It was hard to see such a strong man fall from grace in this way.
"Well, hopefully the Zulus will be prompt, we really need the aide right now." replied the Prime Minister.
"You know elections are a week from now..." said Franco.
"Are they? I hadn't even noticed. Who's running?" asked the Prime Minister.
"Well sir, DeGaulle and um, Churchill. They are running." he said.
"Churchill? Why is he running?"
"What do you mean?" asked Franco.
"He wasn't Prime Minister, was he?" asked Pagniacci.
"Um, I don't remember sir."
"Well Franco, it seems that your age is catching up with you. You look good for your age though." he said as he patted Franco on the shoulder.
"I suppose so. Anyway um, I was just checking up on you, I have a meeting in Berlin with the Joint Chiefs. Its an urgent meeting of course."
"Hah! They always are, aren't they?"
"Yes, they are. Well Enzo, you look good, and I'll be back around to see you in a week alright?" he said.
"I'll be outta here by then, you think they can keep me in this place for long?" he asked.
"No, you're right. I'll see you in the bunker soldier." Franco said, giving him a mock salute.
"Alright, I need some rest..."
Early the next morning Enzo Pagniacci was announced dead. Winston Churchill, as majority leader was announced Prime Minister. The elections would determine who would run the country... little did everyone know it had already been decided...

"Gentlemen, I need you all to report our current status, the Reich Vice chancellor Ozzyhas done a marvelous job I gather, but it is time to set new goals." said Reich Chancellor Adolf. He looked around the room at his Cabinet members. To his right was Vice Chancellor Ozzy, still dreaming of returning to the Caribbean. Next to him was Field Marsholl Ottto Von Bismark, getting a bit aged and Hitler knew he would be replacing him soon. The next person was Dame Sarah Juline the Mossad head, a young Israeli girl who had shown great potentila nad had recently been promoted, Adolf liked her and wished she actually sat next to him, he made a mentla note to re-arrang ethe seating next time.
Across from Dame Sarah was Admiral Abram Crystal, the longest serving member of the small FDP navy. Next to him was Reich President Rasputin, sleeping as usual. Continuing down the table was Chief Engineer Saul Halenski, another Jew but one from the Urals, he was in charge of the Civil League. Next to him was Bert Einstein, great grandson of the long time disappeared Albert Einstein, he was in charge of the FDP's R&D dept.
"You start Bert." said Adolf gesturung for him to move to the head of the table to present his report.
Bert stumbled his way to the table head, dropping most of his papers along the way.
"Well as you all know, the previous two centuries hav enot been good for the FDP, under the previous leaders no funds were spent on my dept at all and whilst the Army needed to be strengthened vack then I bleeive it is time to put some money into R&D, the other nations of the world ar eno longer aiding us as we once hoped. Dame Sarah has made a few suggestions beofre about just stealing the information we need, but that would of course send us back to the war periods. So very little to report I am sorry to say. The current inititive of the Scientists down at the lab is probalb ystill 2 generatiosnaway from fruition at current budget restarints." He returned to his seat and smiled, he knew Adolf was of a similar mond to himslef and wanted more R&D.
"Thankyou Bert, we will discuss the future shortly after al lreports are finished. Saul? " He looked to his Chief Engineer and watched him setup a OHP and a screen.
"ok thankyou Reich Chnacellor, as you all should know, my dept of engineers has been for the last 400 years transforming the desert around israel and the Saudi Desert to Farmland. Whislt doing this we have finished laying Railroad linking us with our allies the Asians and straight on into Europe. Recently we have been reparing the damaged Rail in Africa too. Our short term goal is to complete the israel desert transformation , long term we see no desert in any portion of FDP. I dont ask for any more expenditure on our department Chancellor, I know the Vice Chancelor ozzy was keen to increase my dept but I ma happy with my 12 divisions of Engineering Corps. Although some divisions are getting a bit out dated now."
"good thanks Saul, that will save us funds for other depts." Adolf had already encouraged Saul to make that statement."Dame sarah?"
"well despite only having two Operational Bases our dept has managed to maintain close contact with all Jews throughout the world and our information via Grapevine is second to none. We were ablw to easily infiltrate the Mali army to discover their lack of support for us, and we were instrumental in getting the alliance with them broken. We would ask for two new OP Bases, one for the new colonies in the Americas and one for the Pacific Region. Thankyou"
She smiled at Adolf and he felt a stirring in his loins, she wil ldefinatly get that and more he thoguht to himslef.
"Abram, how goes our Navy?"
The wisened old sailor stood but remained behind his chair.
"Well we have harldy rated being given the name of Navy until recent times. When I yook over from the former Admiral of the fleet we had only one fleet which was operating between Austrralai and the Suez. In recent times we have developed our U-Boat Squadrons and despite losing the original Squad in the first war with the Adriatics and also losing our entire PAcific Tranportaition division, we have continued builsing up to a decent level now. I now have plans in palce to reconstruct the PAcific Transport Squad and the U-Boat Factories ar eworking overtime to complete their allotment. By the turn of this century we should be the 2nd biggest navy in the world with fully modern equipment."
"Very good my old friend" said Adolf. "and Otto?"
The 2nd oldest man in the room stood up and looked around, he knew his time was almost at an end as the leader of the greatest army in the world. A new leader and a time of peace meant he was no longer required.
"Well Reich Chnacellor, as a fellow soldier you wil lbe more than aware , we are the most feared army in the world. In the last 400 years we have been on a steady increase not only in number of divisions but i nthe strength of those divisions. Our Ralfitzer brigades are feared from Western Africa to Eastern America. We ahve the largest Artillery divisions in the world. However I must point out, that as was discovered to our horror at Yemen, we are not the only ones prepared t ouse that force and so I recommend we continue to build our defences and retire all the older divisions. I was horrified whwn it was brough tto my attention tha tthe Arabs had spent the money we gave thme to equip their soldeirs with Rifles and left them with pikes!! Those damn Arabs!!!"
"Otto, they are people of the FDP cut that out " said Adolf
"He is right though" quipped in Rasputin, apparnetly having jsut woken up. "We sent much resources down their to Yemen and they squandered it, we need to personally oversee the rebuilding program to never let it happen again."
"yes yes, well moving right along, any more Otto?"
"As per the Reich Vice-Chanvellors orders, our entire Army is on furlow unti lnext month, After that they are all to return to their home Provonces. They shal lveocme part of the defence of their own homes"
"Thank you Otto. That is moving along well, finally we get to discuss where we go from here. We need to deeply investigate exaclty what resources we wil lneed to fulfill the Five year plan we set out last week and also to head towards our Turn of century breakthru. We will gather back her ein two days and discuss further."

Ok guys, we desperately need a good session. The game is just dragging. as dangimes pointed out. I think everyone is going to be here this session and it is essential that we finish more than a single goddam round! I mean really, its just too discouraging.
Firstly, what we need is a host. I did it last week out of default, but it was obviously not a good connection. My connection just isn't good enough. So we should figure out who is the best candidate for a host and we should do it now, not the night of the game. Capo, dang and pro are at school and I'm guessing, all have some sort of high speed connection, if they live on campus and are hooked up to a network. BUT, I am not sure if there are firewall issues to hook up with them, I'd imagine there might be. I'm on a 56k dialup, as is deity, belinda and raz (I think).
What we need to do is figure this out. Ad figure it out asap. I agree with dang, it'shard to write stories and hold interest in the game, if nothing at all is going on. We need events! And a solid session is what we need......
So lets figure out who our best candidate for a host is and do it soon.
Deity says we'll be done by Christmas...but at the pace we're going at, we won't finish till NEXT Christmas (I'm not saying I want it to end, I just think the game needs to keep moving)

just to let y'all know, yeah I got 56K connect thru BellSouth...not only that, because of some kind of issues I have not been able to resolve the game will not let me host a game with more than one opponent. Mano y mano I can host all day but only one can log on to my IP. don't ask me why.
so I can't host at all, however poorly
but I can play all night. and it would be really lovely if I could get more than one turn a week. I don't have a problem with going back to the save Pro wants to use, though, even if it means repeating my last turn

The sheeting rain cast a grim feeling over this private meeting; Charles DeGaulle looked nervously around the cozy home office of Winston Churchill, who was apparently not there yet. 'What would happen here?' DeGaulle asked himself, after all Pagniacci had died. The Dove party had no reason not to contest the elections now that their main problem was out of the picture. There was no way the Hawks could gain the majority vote now if the Doves could place an able and cooperative member of their party in the elections. Maybe Churchill himself would take the spot?
"General DeGaulle!" exclaimed a jubilant, possibly drunk, Winston Churchill as he arrogantly strode into the office "How are you on this fine English evening?"
"Very good." he replied as he stood to shake Churchill's hand "How are you sir?"
"Very nice, please sit down sit down." said the Englishman as he took a seat in a nicely decorated chair.
DeGaulle slowly and carefully sat down on the large green couch "So Winston, we apparently have something to talk about?"
"Yes we do Charles, Enzo has died as I am sure you are aware. We did have a deal, and I believe we should continue on that tangent. The Dove party can not afford to seem divided, in the event we did we would still lose, but the repercussions could be terrible." he said, as he lit his pipe.
"What do you mean?" asked Charles.
"Clearly Admiral Franco will acquire the party's nomination, our main issue is the fact that we can't afford to contend with the original revolutionary faction. Franco is not only a part of that by ideology, but also by blood." he said taking a puff.
"True."
"Yes very, the MPs couldn't possibly avoid nominating him. If we contended with the Hawks on this one it would be a mess, at least half the party knows that we have to make a change, this neo-fascist state we are running will never survive, or succeed, the way its going now." Churchill explained.
"Well with all due respect, the Dove party can not possibly be that weak right now, at least organizationally, you have dominated European politics since Garibaldi and Bonaparte." DeGaulle said.
"That may be true, but hundreds of years may soon come to an end, we need cooperation from the Hawk party on this. The issue is the people, how they view this. If they know, if the people know, that we are in cahoots, that both parties are working together the f*cking Socialists and Communists will have a field day. We can't allow it." Churchill said taking another puff of his pipe.
"That is very true. I hear they are gaining substantial support in Finland, Uralsky and Russia. Can you imagine losing Russia to the Communists?" asked DeGaulle.
"Nationalism is a key as well, Lenin is a Russian, he may be some factory working loudmouth, but he is a Russian. The first to run in any serious way, Italian dominance of politics is slowly fading. Look at us, French and English." he said.
"Yes, but the Italians still have a very good hold on politics anyway, Russia has always put an Italian in their seats." said DeGaulle.
"That may be true, regardless. You will be Prime Minister, I'll make sure my party plays ball, the vote will have to be close. It can't seem like this was preordained. You have to understand that the people can't read between the lines. They will view our cooperation as more 'fascist' than what Pagniacci was doing." he said shaking his head "There was no way we'd develop if we allowed Enzo to remain head, dare I say this, its a good thing he passed."
"Well, then I believe we're all set. I still haven't heared word on the Western Conference." DeGaull said.
"It was shut down early, that's when Pagniacci got sick. I thought it was the food, those Zulus have strange appetites. But apparently the man smoked far too much."
"Alright Winston, then we are in agreement." said DeGaulle as he extended his hand.
"Yes we are mon ami." said Winston, as he shook DeGaulle's hand....

Alright guys, yeah this sucks on more levels than one believe me.
I discovered some disturbing news about my father's condition the other day, although I should have reported it (due to the fact that it is most likely going to effect my ability to show up), I have been swamped with a lot of things and felt I had to use the free time I had for other things, namely posting stories rather than this OOC message. But I have finally realized that our new pack isn't 100% right now so there's another issue...
Luckily I'm the Capo, plans are my thing and I've got a few...
Today I have to be at the hospital because my father is undergoing a generally new procedure which has a higher than normal risk of failure factor, its not going to be mortal or anything if the procedure fails, but it will give him added discomfort on many levels. So I'm going to be there, it starts at 6, I doubt I'll be back to the DC Metro area from Baltimore after its over in time to start the session off.
However, I understand we need some good play time to get in, so I'd suggest someone get a hold of Ozzy as soon as possible. His ICQ handle is LazerKP (he's the only one so search for his handle) and his AIM is OzzyKP or LazerKP as well.
As far as the fugged up patch goes, you can DL the original at http://members.aol.com/nkreefer/hotw2.zip
Sorry about this guys, but its beyond my control.
Good luck tonight, hopefully I'll show up.
PS: Ozzy if you see this, your leader's name is Charles DeGaulle, just for storyline to playtime accuracy. Grazie.

Adriana walked towards the personal office of Prime Minister DeGaulle in Monaco. The city was very pretty, she had claimed it as her home in recent years, thus the journey wasn't very painstaking. The building his office was in was very modest, a new building clearly by its construction and lack of characteristics.
"Hello." Adriana said pleasantly as she placed her leather breifcase on the secretary's desk "I have an appointment with Mr. DeGaulle at three, I know I am a bit early, but I always make it a point to be on time."
The secretary simply smiled back and said "Mr. DeGaulle is expecting you, go right in."
Adriana collected her things and walked into his office, it was just as modestly decored as the entire building, with nothing save a picture of Napoleon Bonaparte and a map of Europe as its decoration. A very cheap looking black desk sat in front of a filled book case as she slowly approached, DeGualle was staring out of the window at the Mediterranean sea.
"Ah, General Alessi." he said as he walked towards her "Please have a seat." he said motioning towards a black leather couch, she sat down, he did as well not very far from her.
"So Prime Minister, what matters are at hand. I was quite busy in Moscow organizing the reconstruction." she said.
"I understand, but I have invited you here to undertake a larger reconstruction; namely the reconstruction of Europe itself." he said as he pulled a large notebook from a nearby file cabinet.
"The whole of Europe wasn't damaged too terribly" she replied "If memory serves."
"Physically no, politically its in shambles. We are by far the weakest nation on the planet, millions of soldiers have perished in the ural ranges and the mountains of the Balkans. Let alone the droves that died in the Sahara and America. Our economy is horrible now, our military strength non-existant. The only advantage we can even claim to have, if you want to use the term advantage, is the fact that none of our garrisons are out-dated." he flipped through the report and handed it to her. "Look at these numbers."
She quickly glanced at it, pretending to consider its information and placed it on the couch between them "This is a matter for Parliament, and yourself sir. There is little I can do to help this at all."
"Yes, as General that may be so. However I want to invite you to become my Secretary of the Interior. You have a great political mind, it was politics that brought you into the military, it shall be politics that brings you out."
"No, it was death that brought me into the military Prime Minister." she replied bluntly.
"That may be so, but politics played their part. Anyone could manage Russia's reconstruction, that is not an issue. The reluctance you show is disheartening, you are the perfect candidate." he retorted.
"Well Mr. DeGaulle, I will consider the offer. Its intriguing, if I said it wasn't I'd make myself a liar. But, politics have never been good to me, and I doubt they ever will."
"Just say you'll think about it Adriana, that is all I ask. You have a week before I announce my new cabinet, please be prompt in your decision..."
