One switch for all civ-specific features? Lose 30 kilos (of popups)

From the current screenshots, it looks like you have to choose all or none. I hope they make three switches in game start up for civilization specific abilities:

1) Special units y/n?
2) Golden age y/n?
3) Special abilities y/n?

Increase Your PM Length

Also Firaxis posts/interview seems to link every feature a bit "unconventional" (relating to Civ II) under the single switch you mentioned.

Of course, considering that Firaxis linked first Special Unit Victory to start of Golden Age, you can't have the latter without the former...

It probably is a way to simplify the balancing/tuning/testing efforts, and for once is not a thing I want to complain

Which screenshots are you referring to? I always assumed you could toggle all 3 switches. I didn't notice anything in the current screenshots that would make me change my assumption. I would be disappointed if you couldn't because I don't plan on playing with the units at first but I do want to play with the abilities.

Look at Official Civ3 site Gallery. Second screenshot (top/rightest) is titlet Player Setup.

Right above the "Difficulty setting" you can see an "Allow Civ Specific Abilities" toggle.

That has been referred in others threads as the only available switch about Special Abilities/Special Units/Golden Age AFAIK (of course it can be an Alpha version screen, or you can have another page of setup, but I don't think so (if not for planet map generation options).

Support Apolyton, pre-order Civilization IV

Well that sucks. I hope they change it in the final edition.

But there must be a way to modify it in the editor or in the rules.txt, units.txt, etc., so you can play with abilities but not units/goldenages.
