Hi,
I want to win the game by sending my civ into space. Somehow I can't figure out how to find a wormhole. I read that I need to find one. I somehow can't build a wormhole probe.
How do I do that?

First make a Wormhole Detector.
Now make a Wormhole Probe and launch it.
You might put up a couple units to get rid of the black areas while you are making the probe.
I have never had any problems finding the Wormhole when I got the probe up there.
Now move the probe to the Wormhole and you will get the ability to make 3 new items in your cities. I believe one of the items is optional but speeds things along.
The few times I went this route I put my heavy industry cities on the job and cranked all the parts out in short order.
It then seemed to stumple along with no information about what was really going on and then you get a message that you won. Pretty weak but I reccomend you do it once just to see that portion of the game.
Slaughtering all opposition is much more fun.

I think you may have the same misconception as I did my first time to try to win in a "non-combative" manner.
The Wormhole Project has nothing to do with having space cities or being able to populate space. You'll be able to jet about space much sooner than you'll be able to work on the Wormhole Project.
The "Star Launcher" and "Rail Launcher" give you access to space, not to the wormhole. They are a way to expand your civilization if you've run out of space on terra firma. You build cities there just like you do on solid ground. (Without the chance of roaming barbarians, I hope!)
The Wormhole Probe can be built after you achieve "Fusion" (you can build the Leviathan (don't)) and "Space Colonies" (the space engineer and food pods.) However, remember it's run by a bureaucracy. Don't expect anything to happen quickly. It takes more turns than you would expect for each step.
In other words, you must build the wormhole sensor to find the wormhole. Then you can work on the X-lab, and the subsequent parts.
Remember, Keep Looking Up
