Sys Reqs: monitor size? Enter the AD-FREE zone

I was looking at the sys reqs on the Civ3.com site, and it listed 1024 x 768 monitor resolution as a requirement. Is this true - or can the game be played on a 600 x 800 laptop?

Appologies if this has been discussed - I searched recent posts, but if there was a full thread, feel free to point me to it.

I think it is required to get all the screens to work (advisors mainly).
